Coil spring from 1901 too

There was a car called the Brush Runabout in 1906 with coil springs but they didn't catch on with everybody else until the 30s. The first Ford auto transmission came out on the 50s.

What I'm saying is, I don't think this car is all original

I see these types of posts on Craigslist all the time. "1959 Cadillac. Perfect candidate for restoration. $2,500 firm."

And it's like, uh, no. I'm positive that at one time that WAS a 1959 Cadillac. But, the floor pan is completely rotted out. The engine consists solely of the block. The rest of the drive trane and hood are gone. And the rest of the car looks like someone heard One Piece at a Time on the radio and thought it was a repair manual.

At best you've got $500 worth of scrap metal and that's if YOU load it on a flat bed and haul it to the junk yard yourself.

I've passed on many old junkers even when sellers were only asking $100-350 thinking it still had some 'value'

"Alright if you want ill throw in that 63 New Yorker for another $200 if you want it?"

Bruh that thing is a pile of tetanus. Maybe 15 years of less decay I'd consider, but as of now youd be better off starting out with a paperclip for a frame. Couldnt get that much for it at a scrapyard even...

At that point, you're just buying a vin number for a pre-obd2 car. Which can be useful for street legal dune buggies or whatever.

Well even in that condition a Ford Something is better than a Ford Nothing.
