In the First Council of Nicaea, Christian theologian Arius took a nice walk from North Africa to modern-day Turkiye to join a council called for the purpose of discussing and resolving theological disputes within Early Christianity.

Turns out, the kind of resolution his coreligionists were interested in was "You get beaten and exiled for believing the Wrong Thing, and all of your writings will be burned and anyone caught with a copy will be put to death."
