With all of the controversy and evidence regarding Scientology, what it takes to leave, and how they basically own you once you join…what is the upside? Why are people interested in joining in the first place?
I’m excluding those who were “born into it” and am specifically speaking about those who seemingly voluntarily become Scientologists.
Sorry if this seems ignorant or judgmental, but from what I’ve researched, it seems glaringly obvious to not join the organization regardless if you believe in some of its principles because of the chokehold it has on you basically forever. I get it’s what most would consider a “cult” but I’d love to know what the “perks” are when it comes at such a steep price.
