& I’m doing pretty good! The wefwef app has done a great job of recreating the Apollo experience and has made it a lot easier to not want to go and download the Reddit app. The more active it gets here, the easier it’ll be. How are you guys doing so far? Have you found an App for Lemmy that you prefer the most yet?

So from the user experience side, I'm actually liking Lemmy even just with the mobile site, which I'm guessing varies instance to instance. There's a couple quality of life tweaks I'd make but it's a lot smoother than expected.

A problem I am having though, which I hope clears itself, is that I'd say upwards of 90% of the posts I'm seeing are either "Reddit is dead to us" or "Wow Lemmy is great!" Both of which are fair viewpoints that they around certainly be allowed to share, but when that is the vast majority of the content, it does not entice me to regularly return.

The two things I regularly used Reddit for (Keeping up with a couple hobbies and educational materials) have communities but are largely inactive at the moment. I am aware that I can help the situation by engaging with them--and I will!--but so far the pervasiveness of the Reddit posts has definitely taken the enthusiasm out.

This post isn't quite what I am talking about, though, as you are at least promoting discussion, which is good!

I am never going to bow down to reddit filth. The Dragon of Dojima never surrenders to assholes making 3rd party devs lives miserable. I am just looking for RiF alternative. Apollo seems to have gotten a good one by wefwef but I sed RiF for years as my main app

I'm currently trying out Jerboa. Made my Lemmy acc yesterday, but made my Mastodon acc back in Feb so I've been on the Fediverse for at least a while.

I visited Reddit for 16 years. RIF on android then Slide on iOS. Slow to learn how Lemmy works.

Guess I shouldn’t be surprised the site’s burned. But it’s an adjustment - with how often I check my (now broken) app mindlessly, I actually think the scummy CEO did me a favor!

Wefwef as a web app is really really good. I’m also enjoying liftoff! App for iOS.

Is Lemmy.World a bit laggy for everyone else?

I wonder is it on my end or is it because of the new traffic it's getting?

Keep at it! I suspect these first few days will be the hardest. I uninstalled BaconReader last night and put "Connect for Lemmy" in its place on my home screen. So far it's been a pretty easy transition!

It's been one day without Reddit and I've realized that I don't really need it, despite being on the site since 2009 and by far my most used social network. At the end of the day, the community is more important than the site, and I think most of the communities have far since declined on Reddit, then moved on to Discord/ Lemmy/ whatever.

Are there any apps for Lemmy that have a "hide read" feature? I had recently started using Sync for Reddit for that feature, because I like to be able to refresh and see all new posts instead of weeding through stuff I've already seen. Any tips would be appreciated!

Connect for Lemmy does. You can also order by new

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

This is what I'm using. Works great for me so far.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I'm sure you'll be happy to know that there will be a Sync for Lemmy in the near future.

I'm using Connect at the moment has been fine. Looking forward to the new version of Sync. But the only sub I miss is buildapcsales but only a matter of time.

Ngl find it all a bit confusing still, however it definitely seems like the beginnings of something special

Welcome! I’m on Memmy for iOS myself and it’s pretty solid so far! Really need to checkout wefwef. I adore Apollo and was really sad about it, but seeing so many redditors flooding to here has softened the blow.

I've been using lemmy for a couple of weeks now and it's going pretty good. I recently setup a second account on a smaller instance because lemmy.world became often laggy.

I've tried jerboa, liftoff, and took a look at wefwef but I'd prefer an application instead of a webpage. Ofthe three I'd say I like liftoff the best but none of the apps/sites I've tried have all the features I want.

There's a chance that Slide (my preferred reddit app) is going to be repurposed for lemmy so hopefully that pans out. I'll try sync as well when it'sreleased.

I deleted my Reddit account on June 11th, so just over 3 weeks ago, and I don't miss it. Lemmy is doing a perfectly fine job filling that void. I'm quite happy here.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I like that I have yet to encounter the N-word unlike some other "reddit alternatives"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I've only tried one Lemmy app so far, Jerboa. It's fine...

I'm still struggling with the muscle memory of opening baconreader pretty much all the time. I spent some time on Reddit too, on my PC, and it's kinda bland.... Since everyone seems to be here. But this place is still ramping up, so I'm interested to see what happens in the coming weeks.

The only thing I really miss from Reddit is the cryptocurrency mainreddit and the subreddits. Lemmy is definitely going to be amazing once other like-minded individuals migrate to lemmy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I never quite understood the appeal of the crypto subreddits. They all felt like dark pits filled entirely with grifters, and the analyses often reflected that. Finding a diamond in the rough insight was all I used it for. I’d love to learn whether I missed something.
