For the first time, Disney is seeking damages in the state court case initiated by the governor's handpicked oversight board.

In the case initiated by the board of supervisors picked by DeSantis to oversee Walt Disney World’s special tax district, the entertainment giant on Thursday filed a series of counterclaims, including for breach of contract and violations of the Florida constitution over its due process and free speech rights. It moved for damages and an order forcing the district to comply with the terms of the development agreements.

Pressing on him during his campaign would send a good message to politicians not to try this shit again.

On Monday, he [DeSantis] urged Disney to “drop the lawsuit,” saying he’s “moved on.”

He's moved on; The Mouse has not...

The Mouse has a long memory, too.

This is my favorite line in the article, too.

Translation: “I know I’m going to lose. Please don’t do to me what I did to you.”

Sorry, you paid for the ride, and now you're going in the teacup.

Hmmm do I side with government fascists or corporate fascists for this issue?

Corporate fascists. One only hurts an industry reducing wages and overworking workers while the other actively encourages the loss of rights and murders of minority groups and is looking to expand they’re influence to the whole country.

Yeah. It’s really weird to root for such an evil company, but as I see it, DeSantis is worse, so…

Strange times, friend. Strange times.

Now imagine if Nestle and Putin start mixing it up.

DeSantis is currently the greater of two evils. For now, I cheer on the mouse.

The hope is that Disney becomes so occupied with getting its pound of flesh (and DeSantis has so much to take) that it'll forget to ~~bribe~~ lobby congressmen to extend copyright protections another dozen years. DeSantis loses, Disney loses, everyone else wins.

I feel guilty for finding it so satisfying

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

I don’t! DeSantis is a hateful prick who abused his authority. He deserves much worse.

If you mess with the mouse, you get the ears.

What a wet noodle of a man.

Couldn't take on Disney. Won't be able to contend with Trump. Wants to run the country?

Desantis? more like defuqtis.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Don’t mess with the mouse. He’s more capitalist than you’ll ever be, Ron.

I hate that the fascist has me rooting for a mega corp.
