For now, I will. I'll still be on Reddit (despite what the owners are like, there's still a ton of good content, information, and help on there). But I'll use this, too. I just hope it becomes more active. The best subreddits always have a decent amount of new stuff each day. I'm seeing Lemmy pop up on various "here's where to go to replace Reddit" articles, so that's hopeful.

What I really like is the feeling that this is a new way to experience the internet. There will inevitably be instance mods who are awful, or drama between instances. People are always going to people. But, this really does seem like something different from the "Sign up for one particular website run by a corporation" model. Also, I really hope Lemmy instances can stay ad-free. Maybe the community can think up a way to have a donation function instead of ads.

I have gone back to reddit in the past 24-48 hrs a few times to check up on things, something feels off. I know I know there's things going down, but it also just seems different. The pictures of jon oliver, etc. Ive been getting lemmy posts through my mastadon for the last few days since this started, and decided to finally make a full account here because I wasn't really getting the UI and i am super happy to see activity! gonna stick around <3

I'm not deleting my Reddit account, and I won't stop using Reddit entirely, but I'm done using Reddit multiple times a week and will mostly browse occasionally or through search results from Google.

I was deeply sad when all this began and Sync for Reddit was being shutdown, but Lemmy legit feels just like Reddit only better!

Plus, with Sync for Lemmy in development I couldn't be happier!!! Just needs to grow with more users and activity for those more niche communities to develop. But I'm all in for the decentralized future!

Absolutely Yes! this whole reddit drama was just what I needed to wake up and get out of my comfort zone and that shitty centralized site, which lost it's edge a long time ago but I was sleeping.
