~~They don't leave you alone if someone is always awake at all times and also there is a small child in your bed and when you get up they want to get up too and everyone has their own stuff going on so you just have to take care of it all without complaining because honestly that would just open a whole different can of worms and that just continues forever and there is no end in sight~~

Yeah.

Or hear me out, don't have children. Then the night is yours.

Edit: I realize from the large response that my comment was both dismissive to OPs situation and insensitive. I meant this to be for others that don't yet have children. Sorry OP, I hope your significant other sometimes gives you nights off.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Yes. This type of dismissive response is the other reason I shouldn't talk about my struggles to begin with. Thank you for the direct example.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago

I hear ya. Don't pack it down or bottle it up. This isn't that other place, and you can tell the punters to STFU. Your struggles are valid and your stresses are worthy of solutions. Feel free to bend my ear, and I'm sure others here are able to be helpful as well. You're not alone, neighbor. 🤗✊🏼

My response isn't targeted at you or anyone who already chose to have children, but at the rest of us. Having every night to yourself is an option.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And yet you replied directly to them. The fact that you used their comment as a platform for your rant makes it worse, not better.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Because they were a top comment talking about the difficulties of parenthood? They chose their life and I gave an alternative. Not for them, obviously.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

No, I know why you did it. I saw your other comments. I'm not asking why, im explaining that your comment was dimissive, rude, and very much using a person who was venting about their stress in life.

Not for them, obviously.

You do understand that makes it worse, right?

What a valuable addition to the conversation /s

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So your advice to them is to kill off their kids? Or to invent a time machine and go back to erase them form existence?

What a pointless and arrogant reply..

[–] Sir_Kevin 13 points 2 years ago (3 children)

It's a valid response for other people reading that have not yet made that decision. This is a public forum after all.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Thank you, that's exactly how I meant it. Having children finally brings meaning to their life and what not, but not having them gives me the freedom to do as I please on any night of the week.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah both choices and experiences are valid for sure. But then maybe give the "hear me out" sarcasm a rest with someone who says they're sleep deprived and maybe struggling. Enjoy your uninterrupted nights!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Fair point. I'm going to add an edit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Jfc.. It could have been a valid response to OP, it is not a valid response to a person who is venting about their existing children, being a public forum has nothing to do with it and doesn't make the person I replied to any less of an ass... 🤦‍♀️

No it isn't, it's toxic, and we don't want that here. Keep it on Facebook or Reddit, stop bringing the cancer to lemmy

[–] [email protected] -4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

/r/ChildFree is leaking.

Can we at least keep the toxic dismissive, high horse bullshit on reddit and not bring it to lemmy?

It'd be nice if conversation quality wasn't bottom barrel like the above comment.

And keep your chin up. There actually is an end in sight. The years your children are young may seem like forever and unbearable work for you, but it will pass. My son is 20 and my daughter is 17 and I will never forget those early years of tortured parenthood but it will pass, and if you take care of your health you will feel 20 years old forever and when your children are grown you can have your youth and freedom back. Believe me! I'm living it. You can have this joy. All your hard work will pay off.

I repeat: take care of your health and when your children are grown, you will have your youth and freedom back.

You have no idea how much this helped. Thank you

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 years ago

It's colder, more relaxing, and quiet. It's perfect.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I will take my sweet sunshine, thank you.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Please do. Next.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

I get left alone eitherway 😎

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

I like very early morning because I feel like it's the best of both worlds. Usually nobody awake so no people, but there's still sun.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I want friends.

Me not want alone.

Me want sun

Me want vitamin D.
