Bloody Sunday, also known as the Bogside Massacre, was a massacre of Irish anti-internment protesters by the British government that took place on this day in 1972 in the Bogside area of Derry, Northern Ireland.

Bloody Sunday resulted in the highest number of people killed in a shooting incident during the Troubles and remains the worst mass shooting in Northern Irish history. This violence was in response to a protest organized by the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (NICRA) in opposition to a state policy of internment without trial, introduced in August of 1971.

On January 18th, 1972, Prime Minister of Northern Ireland Brian Faulkner banned all parades and marches in response to widespread civil unrest. The protest march was organized despite this order.

On the day of the protest, approximately 10,000-15,000 joined the march, however their path was blocked by British Army barriers. The protest descended into chaos, with British soldiers chasing down protesters and attacking them indiscriminately. 26 people were shot, 14 were killed. Many of the victims were shot while fleeing from the soldiers or attending to the wounded, while others were injured by shrapnel, rubber bullets, batons, or being ran down by army vehicles.

The soldiers were from the 1st Battalion Parachute Army, which had perpetrated the Ballymurphy Massacre just months prior. The events of Bloody Sunday greatly increased hostilities between Northern Ireland and the British government. Support for and recruitment by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) rose following the massacre.

I guess I need to learn to use crypto in order to buy my grey market hormones from the Brazilian anime meme website. Does anyone have an easy guide for someone who doesn't have any interest in crypto aside from this one transaction?

Haven't looked into cashapp. However, assuming you're actually doing the transaction on-chain instead of through some app wrapper, the order of operations is:

  1. Move cash from your bank account to an exchange (I use Coinbase, Kraken and Binance are the other mostly reputable ones)
  2. Wait ~3 days for the bank to settle the transaction. You may be able to buy the crypto before then, but you won't be able to move it off the exchange
  3. If they want you to pay them in crypto, they should provide a crypto wallet address (which will just be a long 'random' string of numbers and letters that represent a unique ID, also called a "hash"). Each chain (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc) has unique types of addresses that won't work on other chains, so don't try to send Ether to a Bitcoin address
  4. In the exchange app, there should be a "Send" function where you can enter this address. I recommend copy-pasting it.
  5. Once you send it, you should see a 'receipt' with a transaction ID that will link you to a website that will show you the block your transaction was included in as proof that you sent it. It can take anywhere from seconds to 20+ minutes, depending on the blockchain.

Things to keep in mind:

  1. Each chain requires a small amount of its native token, called "gas", to do a transaction. So for example, if you want to send $50, you should have like $55 on the exchange.
  2. You cannot "unsend" or reverse a transaction. Once you click send it truly is sent. So double-check that you've entered the right crypto wallet address (which is why I recommend copy-pasting it).

Also, whichever exchange or app you use will likely have official documentation and how-tos with screenshots for this.

Fuck.

I guess I'll ask her if she can do cashapp or something.
