And you could ask for a spoiler free review of an old movie or series or questions about it . Here eveeything like that gets downvoated to hell , doesn't exist or doesn't get much reach . I do wish we could intime have things like that .

The population on lemmy is not par with reddit. It takes time but we will get there if reddit keeps on fucking up like it does now.

It's a good time to remember all the things we consider the norm from there were nowhere to be seen during the Digg migration. Give it time for the fediverse to find its footing and its own way!

Yeah but we're not talking about niche interests subs, we're talking about discussions of movies and stuff. They're really basic, really standard, and really popular things for an internet forum to have. They were a norm long before Digg and Reddit, and they were routinely some of the most trafficked and active posts on Reddit.

You would think that the first communities and the first norms to really take root and grow here would be the most basic. It's kind of weird how after 7 months there just hasn't been any real establishment of them.

It's because lemmy is just 50% of the worst possible political takes, star trek and boomer memes.
