This has to be an elaborate BDSM thing, right? Like he's being a bratty dom and taunting the fuck out of everybody because he secretly can't wait until they drag him from his house in the middle of the night and pulverize him with two by fours.

Nah, BDSM is all about consent. I don't think he requested that consent before inflicting that amount of widespread pain.
