Lot of depressed and lonely ppl who use this, see r/replika
Browsed that subreddit a while ago and the people who post their seem to have a genuine belief in their replika. But when I tried using it and it feels so utterly fake and canned (because it is)
I stumbled upon it while putting the random subreddit button some time back. There were so many posts about a recent update changing the behavior of the AIs, people very distressed that whatever personality they'd decided was there was suddenly gone. Just really disturbing stuff
well that's because it was gone and they aren't talking to anything sentient. It would honestly be a less depressing use of their time to talk to a brick wall
