About

Archaeology or archeology[a] is the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. The archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts, sites, and cultural landscapes.

Archaeology has various goals, which range from understanding culture history to reconstructing past lifeways to documenting and explaining changes in human societies through time.

The discipline involves surveying, excavation, and eventually analysis of data collected, to learn more about the past. In broad scope, archaeology relies on cross-disciplinary research. Read more...

Earlier this summer, archaeologists began hauling some of the giant granite blocks that once comprised one of the tallest buildings in the world out of the Alexandrian harbor after centuries underwater. Twenty-two blocks, to be precise, each one weighing between 80 and 90 tons with the operation requiring a boat, a platform, and a crane employing specific techniques to ensure the integrity of the blocks.

One thing I don’t think Civ ever got right was the idea that wonders could be destroyed. Egypt certainly doesn’t have +1 movement for naval and embarked units.

Most wonders have effects that expire after a certain era.

I think only Civ 1 had all wonders last for all time.

Even Civ 1 had expirations for wonders. The great lighthouse effects only lasted until Magnetism was researched. That's why I always went with the Colossus. An great wonder who's effects don't expire until Electricity.
