I hate to bring you the news but Amy's objectively the moderate wing of fascism

Goodman and Democracy now! never met a color revolution/regime change they didn't embrace and support. From Libya, Syria, Hong Kong to Georgia (I might of missed a few). I was a big Democracy Now! watcher before, then came Libya. Juan Cole was their regular guest for the Libya coverage leading up the NATO bombing and assasination of Gaddafi. Juan Cole was a big chearleader for the "moderate" rebels, and was orgasmic when Gaddafi was killed. On to Syria, and all her guests were again pro rebels, calling for a no fly zone. After Trump bombed Syria, next day Goodman had on a Syrian-American activist guest to give her views. The Syrian American activist was very upset with Trump, not because of Amerikkka was bombing another Middle Eastern country, but Trump bombed an empty air field, she wanted Trump's bomb to cause actual death and destruction lol wtf. Then comes Hong Kong, Goodman's regular guests were Hong Kong liberals, and one was begging Trump for help. That was my last straw, never watched Democracy Now! again.

Also had a full segment on Xinjiang with our favorite "expert" Zenz.

Forgot to mention their coverage when Liu Xiaobo was arrested by China. For those who don't remember him, he was a Nobel winner (Peace prize?), and was a liberal darling for standing up against the CPC. Democracy Now! of course was also a fan, guests were praising him and they even aired a bunch of celebs reading his works. Liu Xiaobo is a Euro supremacists, he supported Bush's Iraq War to tame the muslims and thinks China should've been colonized for 100 years.

American lefties and having dogshit foreign policy opinions, name a more iconic duo

[–] [email protected] 8 points 15 hours ago

Yeah I will not be defending that, that's objectively terrible coverage and some moderate wing of fascism shit.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Damn, I never realized how terrible Democracy Now is. Never watched it really but seems the opposite of how people are always hyping it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 16 hours ago

for real, i rarely ever watch democracy now but i always thought they were a left leaning outlet based on how they’re portrayed

Everything falls apart once it gets lasered to death by the Bipartisan Foreign Policy Consensus.

Their domestic reporting is probably their most adversarial, which is the way it is with most bourgeois media in the west

Fierce disagreement within acceptable parameters, but some things (like US foreign policy) are unacceptable topics to discuss or question.

That makes sense. Perfect for young radlibs.

Well yeah, she's no Boots Riley obviously. I don't have some delusion that she's a PSL sleeper agent. You will still not find a much better sympathizer in journalism, and she is a valuable figure in this way.

see @[email protected]'s reply to my post for the receipts. her politics are indistinguishable from John Oliver's

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I agree it is disappointing that even the better journalists are still western chauvinists. You can see my response to said receipts, which is that I have no interest in defending Democracy Now!s consistent application of :us-foreign-policy:. I still appreciate when they do good coverage, like offering a platform for criticism of the Zionist entity or interviewing Boots. I don't think that's an unreasonably nuanced attitude. However if you still would like to argue that they're unforgivably in the pocket of the Great Satan, I'm not going to tell you you're wrong in this attitude.

nope not arguing. wrote that reply before I'd seen the rest of the thread
