No, brain, you do not need to investigate whether computers still need disk defragmentation…

SSDs - no. Standard hard drives depends. IIRC (from when this thought struck me and I could not resist the rabbit hole) Linux ext type file system doesn't really need it and Mac/windows do it automatically. So unless your disk is nearly full and / or you are doing something weird it is a thing of the past...

Such a lovely thing though...all those bits sorting themselves out...

I used to love watching the graphic as all the bits moved along, and then happiness if the computer worked better afterwards
