@ValueSubtracted I definitely think the plan is to spin it into a TOS-era show with Kirk. It looks like they're setting up La'an to be a romance with him by giving her an experience like the City at the Edge of Forever, and they've been teasing him and Scotty pretty hard.
I wonder what the format will be though. I doubt they'd just do more episodic Star Trek with Captain Kirk
I have my doubts about them openly overlapping with TOS.
But with the current state of things, I wouldn't bet on anything one way or another.
When they try anything new, the fanbase seems to revolt ahead of time and they seem to do best when they go after nostalgia bait. I'd be surprised if they did anything else myself.
TBH, fans revolt in either direction. We're all very well-adjusted people.
