This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Gave the demo another shot after a short on YT by Video Game Closet (awesome channel - definitely check them out) and honestly:I liked it quite a bit! The story seemed a little generic so far, but who plays soulslikes for their story anyways, right? I liked the idea of skill trees for the different weapon types, some changes to the combat added a nice freshness which I kinda miss in From's games, and yeaa kinda went two days straight thinking about buying the game, so I did. :D

On PS5, there's a demo that costs 25 cents - probably because Germany is pretty strict about giving free access to 16+ games on consoles. That's why Warframe is 25 cents too instead of being free.

I think the other major platforms should have a demo too

Wow I wish that's how it worked where I live (land of the-now-not-so free). We don't really get Demos on PS and it sucks when you pay for a full game and decide you don't like it.

Anyway have fun! If it's a cool game let me know - I'm interested in it but don't want to risk paying all that much if I don't like it.

There's a demo for Khazan on the US PS Store for sure though, isn't there?

And yea, for sure. It's awesome that there finally are demos for games on PS5. I'd use them on the 3DS and PS4 quite often, and it helped decide which are games are worth picking up.

Yea I was in the same boat as you. The demo was convincing enough for me to get the game, in the end. Quite surprised at that too because I was a little turned off by the demo at first. Just didn't really vibe it too much. Maybe watch some gameplay and see if it's up your alley?
