Needs to start at Lowtax banning hentai from Something Awful.
I don't know the connection to that. First incident I know of Gamergate was the Zoë Quinn pile-on.
Hentai getting banned on SA is what caused Moot to found 4chan.

Of course this all happened because of sexual repression in society. It makes so much sense.
