Saw the [email protected] comm and has a... suspicious amount of negative articles and specific people who submit things and stuff. Just want to get some actual news up in a /c/ that Americans can refer to if they would like.

Whether he knew this or not, he is partly responsible for the fact that it is happening. Either he was absurdly negligent and didn’t notice that this was one of the major promises of the Trump campaign, or he did know and wants some plausible deniability to say “Oh, sure, I voted for Trump and convinced millions of others to do so as well, but I’m still a basically decent human being who doesn’t like seeing jackbooted thugs violently hauling people away into vans! I wanted this to happen in a nice and not terrifying way!”

Neither says anything good about him.

The Democratic party is at a crossroads.

It can continue to push policies that maintain a broken and rigged economic and political system and ignore the pain of the 60% of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck. It can turn its back on the dreams of a younger generation which, if we don’t change that system, will likely be worse off than their parents.

It can continue to depend upon billionaire donors and out-of-touch campaign consultants and spend huge amounts of money on dumb 30-second ads that fewer and fewer people respond to.

It can ignore the tragic reality that tens of millions of Americans are giving up on democracy because they don’t see their government understanding their struggles and the realities of their lives or doing anything about it.

Or it can learn the lesson that the Zohran Mamdani campaign taught us on Tuesday. And that is:

Have the courage to address the real economic and moral issues that face the majority of our people, take on the greed and power of the oligarchy and fight for an agenda that can improve life for working families.

The first quarter’s decline in GDP was attributed to a massive trade deficit as American businesses rushed to stock up on imports to get ahead of President Donald Trump’s stiff tariffs. The third estimate revised imports down, but they still greatly exceeded exports, which subtracted from GDP.

A Gallup and Walton Family Foundation poll found 6 in 10 US teachers in K-12 public schools used AI tools for work during the past school year, with higher adoption rates among high school educators and early-career teachers. The survey of more than 2,000 teachers nationwide conducted in April found that those using AI tools weekly estimate saving about six hours per week.

In the kitchen, an ingredient’s taste is sometimes less important than its function. Cornstarch has rescued many a watery gravy; gelatin turns juice to Jell-O. Yet the substances that make bread fluffy, hold mayonnaise together, and keep the cream in ice cream have, according to the new stance of the United States government, “no culinary use.”

These natural and synthetic substances, called emulsifiers, are added to processed foods to give them the textures that Americans have come to love. They’ve also become targets in Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s push to remove many food additives from the American diet. The “Make America Healthy Again” report, published in May, groups emulsifiers with other additives, some of which it says are linked to mental disorders, metabolic syndrome, and cancer. Online, the MAHA crowd echoes claims that emulsifiers are helping drive America’s chronic health problems.

Like seed oils and food dyes, emulsifiers have raised some real health concerns, particularly about gut health. But distinguishing their ill effects from those of the foods they’re in is challenging—and probably a distraction from the diet changes that would really make Americans healthier.
