For example, "This group member's live vocals was terrible at the concert, but their other members sang really well"

Reply - "Lets hear you sing then"

Another example, "(Football/Soccer) Why did the player tried to shoot from that far out?? There was a clear pass for an easier shot!"

Reply - "Bro you can't even play football/soccer just be quiet"

I'm going off the fact of light-years, the fact that if you're far enough (65 million light years away to be exact) from earth and if you had a good enough telescope that you could see dinosaurs. Continuing from that thought - we are able to see 46.5 billion light-years into space and can render pretty good pictures of things far away in space. 4.65 billion light-years is obviously more than 65 million light-years. Is the dinosaur rule still relevant when we're looking at other things so far away?

Edit: Thanks again for teaching me. It's also pretty cool that if anyone else is seeing our planet like we see there's (from imagery and stuff) that they're not going to see the human race and depending on where they would live - they might not see an earth at all.

Bonus question: Let's pretend humanity has made up some super computer/telescope and warp speed to travel x light-years away. If we know we would need to travel 65 million light-years away to see dinosaurs, could we use that law and manipulate the distance to view earth at different times at will?

Like.. think of any mystery - the prymids for example, could we use that rule to view how they were actually built if we had a good enough telescope/computer?

First of all, its delicious. If you don't know, its French fries, gravy and cheese. Every bit of that screams America. Any restaurant in Canada sells it. Even McDonald's. But when I try to find it in the US, either no one sells it or has no clue where to find it. Why is such an amazing culinary masterpiece not 9n every American menu?

I understand all religion can be boiled down to make beliefs and that Catholics and other Christian cults have more than fair share of sex scandals but really anything I’ve ever heard about Scientology is either idiotic or plain evil. How is this exists and to such scale?

As the title says, what age did life peak at? I'm currently 33 yrs old and feel like life is going down hill, aging, pain in the lower back, high cost of living, I just want to be 17 yrs old with no worry

I posted the other day about how stupid house prices were and how rich transplants (with remote jobs and big equity from their previous home sale) were part of what ruined the housing market.

And several people chimed in and said to just make more money. Like...???

They said making money was easy, and that by getting some certs or working hard, anyone could do it. Which....is bullshit dude. Hard work PLUS opportunity and luck is what makes wealth. But hard work alone won't get you anywhere, otherwise the hardworking migrants that farm the southwest would all be millionaires.

Am I just dumb? Or is it really easier to make money than I thought? I have a college degree, I work a white collar job, I rent my own apartment without roommates, I have a 401k, and I have food to eat, but I'm certainly not living a life of luxury. Never bought a new car, let alone a new luxury car, never went on a vacation where you fly to a destination and just lounge or sightsee for 2 weeks. Never had the latest and greatest phone or game console.

So, I guess I'm doing ok, but only just barely. I'm not building any sort of generational wealth with home ownership or a fat retirement.

I hear a lot of stories about Japanese people (mostly waiters and waitresses) pretending not understand foreigners even if they speak Japanese well enough, situations like "I had to use google translator and pretend I don't know Japanese" or "I had to make my Asian looking friend who doesn't know the language speak on my behalf"

now I know Japan is an ethnically (and probably culturally) homogenized society but feigning ignorance when a foreigner speaking the same language sound childish and disrespectful

My neighbor (60-ish married male) down the street said in passing today that he’s writing a novel and my daughters (7 yo & 8 yo) are the main characters.

He said it takes place in the future, my kids are grown but still live in our home without us, my oldest is the heroine and she is a pharmacist dating a neighbor boy (4yo) who also currently lives on our street.

This neighbor is retired and I do not think he used to be a writer. We have spoken a handful of times in the 3 years we’ve been neighbors. We don’t spend time together and he does not spend time with my kids except seeing them in passing on the street.

Picturing him in his home down the street, writing about my children seemed odd to me. I feel uneasy now and on guard, though I’d never gotten weird vibes from him before. My husband didn’t seem concerned and said that people write about what they know.

So what do you think, is it weird or is not?

I am a university graduate and work in my career at 22. But i see so many girls my age work at clubs/bars and make stupid amounts of money ($1,000+ on a single weekend night shift, not including wage). Sure fast money isn’t always good money, but it’s crazy how these bottle girls make over $2,500 in a single weekend when that’s about how much I make biweekly. I was just considering it, but is being a bottle girl even worth it in the long run?

And I don't mean people who can't find any other job or who don't have a choice. I mean who people who do have a choice. Why? It's not exactly fun I imagine, the accommodation in which you're going to live isn't nice, and there's probably a million other reasons why no one would want to join. So why would you want to join?

I'm struggling to understand the ideology of people who don't like the idea of unions. I live in Texas which people call a "Right to work" state.

I know some places will require you to be in a union while imployed there, but how would that disrupt ones right to work??

I've tried to ask people/Google but the convo usually turns into politics stuff

I’m closer to 30 than I am to 25 and I still don’t fully understand what the average ‘executive marketing officer” does working 32 hours a week and getting paid 75k a year does.

I’ve worked in the hospitality industry immediately since I’d left high school and worked my way up into well respected positions in multiple jobs but I just can’t quite understand the things I see from people with “office jobs”

Multiple groups will come in for a Friday lunch, will be away from their desk for at least 2 hours and nobody seems concerned at all. Also these people aren’t corporate elitists, they’re obviously middle road public servants.

It might seem like a stupid question to others but i genuinely have no idea, What does that persons 8 hour work day actually look like?

My bf got sick last month and couldn’t get out of bed and needed a lot of rest. I took care of him and tried to make everything as comfortable as possible for him (cooked, did the laundry, brought him some snacks…). I was quite understanding when he couldn’t meet up with a friend of mine that we haven’t seen in a while. Shortly after I got sick myself with the same symptoms. He had just asked me once how I felt and couldn’t understand why I didn’t want to go to a family party even though I had told him repeatedly that I wasn’t feeling good and I didn’t want to risk spreading whatever I had.

Edit: I’ve talked to him and he admitted that he wasn’t good at that kind of stuff and it’s hard for him to do things like that for others. He couldn’t really explain it but it kinda feels like something is holding him back from doing nice things. ( e.g. giving presents , planning nice activities- not just for me but also friends and family) He apologized though and tries to do better in the future.

We've (32m & 31f) been married for more than 2 years but from past couple of months she is acting very weird. She almost gets upset for almost no reason and creating a lot of arguments in our relationship. Sometimes she imagins things and get upset about it. That's what is worrying me!

For example - she gave an interview yesterday and she could not answer all the questions, so first she got upset because it didn't go well. Then she got sad because she thinks she doesn't know anything, then she got upset because she felt the interviewers was mocking her by smiling all the time, then she got upset because the interviewers will laugh thinking about her and she thinks she might meet them somewhere outside the office and it would be embarrassing for her and then she thinks she will never get a job.

This is just an example of one thing but keeps happening again and again when we go out to meet friends and family. She will complain about them for hours or sometimes even days. She is thinking about somethings with doesn't even happen for real. Anyone going through or gone through this stage please help me. I don't know how to react to this situations. What can be done now?

Edit - she is clearly not pregnant nor on birth control/supplements, and she already has a job which she is very good at. But she's looking to change because of salary hike.

I really appreciate each one of you for answering to this post. It really means a lot to me because I cannot tell this my friends or family member.

I use grindr and a guy messaged me. He was 33 and asked me how old i am. I said 18, then he said “you sure? I dont mind if you’re younger”. He had his instagram and Twitter in his bio and his family and friends follow and interact with him on there.

I was going to message them and show them the screenshots but Im worried that if the guy finds out, he’ll go to the police and say I am harassing him and his family. Can the police show up to me house for that? Or could I go to jail?

He also kind of knows my location because before i found out he was a phile, he asked where I lived and I told him what street i am on. Is it worth it? Im scared he’ll hurt children on there

Like when I was a youngster/ teenager, hell yea sure I did a little. And still do a bit now.

But now as an adult with a non-concerning about of libido, sometimes when I see a girl turned around twerking instead of getting horny, I just stand there, watching it while thinking exactly these sort of thoughts:

“Humans so damn strange. Why the hell are we attracted to someone shaking/ gyrating their ass cheeks around? And since people are so inherently turned on by it, is there some reproductive benefit to having a large posterior?”

I guess my only explanation is that we are animals with weird rituals and extremely specifically adapted ways of life; just like the birds of paradise to the fish collecting shells in a pile to impress its mate. Twerking is just our form of courtship display

I mean 40 -50 % of the 1st marriages end in divorce and 60% of the 2nd marriages will end in divorce. There are many factors but with time divorces have been increasing in US....what might be the actual reasons...is there a lack of commitment or some other dark factors play roles in it?

You can smell that their clothes are cold. In the winter, people have a specific smell when walking indoors and everyone shares the same smell so it isn't the person, it's something the cold air is doing to their clothes.

I do notice there aren't as many people on Facebook as there was 5-10 years ago, many of my coworkers at my current job don't do Facebook.
