I live in an apartment in San Francisco and my roommate has continuously left the stove on, and I mean like an absurd amount of times. The first couple times I just turned it off and talked to her about it nicely, but it continued to happen. I then told her this is a safety concern and she shouldn’t be able to use the stove if it happens again. She left the stove on multiple more times and a couple times the pilot light went out and I came home to a house full of gas. Now that it has happened over 20 times, I have complained to my landlord twice but all she did was give her a timer to use when she cooks to remind her to turn it off. It happened again a week later and I told my landlord but she just talked to my roommate and reminded her to turn it off again.

Basically I feel completely unsafe living here and want to know what my rights are and what I can do or what I can say to my landlord to get her to do something about this?

I noticed there's a lot of people who are anti vax that are conservatives, but was wondering if there was the inverse too of people who are liberal and anti vax. not trying to start a debate, just wondering if that's a thing. go ahead and delete if this violates the rules.

Just sitting here on my last role and had the random thought "I wonder if those TP hoarders from 2019 haven't had this issue for the past 3 1/2 years?" Haha. So let's hear it, expose yourself!

My friend is visiting me. I went to go do laundry. I got back like 10 mins ago and went into my room to get the drying rack. And he’s on my bed crying. Idk why but I immediately froze like I had walked in on someone naked and quickly left. Idk what to do. I feel embarrassed to go back in there. But I think I should because he hasn’t come out.

I’m super awkward around emotions and have always been this way, especially when people cry. I don’t care that they cry but it makes me feel super uncomfortable.

Anyway, I don’t mean to make this about myself. I think I should go in and ask him what’s wrong and maybe give him a hug? Would that be weird? I also have biscotti. I’ve never seen him cry before and everything has been fine??

And I don't mean one whose focus crystal is cryptonite. I mean a regular Star Wars lightsaber. Would it just pass through him without doing anything? Or would He be able to block it like a regular blade that had actual mass?

My friend just had her 2022 Cadillac Escalade stolen from her driveway in under 30 seconds @ 5:30am. Her alarm when off for about 5 seconds then shut off. She thought it was a neighbour going to work. She went outside 30 minutes later to leave and her vehicle was gone.

How are vehicles still so easily stealable in 2023? How is my phone more secure that a vehicle? How come you make make a network so secure, but not a vehicle? This seams like something really easy to figure out? Like even just off the top of my head, every screen has a touch screen these days. Why not give an option where the vehicle won't start unless u enter a pin code on the screen. I could probably think of a bunch of other solutions if I thought about it some more.

Seems kind of messed up that a $100k+ luxury vehicle can be stolen in under 30 seconds in 2023.

Edit: Please just stick to the question. I don't want solutions. I don't want to hear that people should park in their garages. I'm just wondering why vehicles are still able to be stolen under 30 seconds without a key in 2023?

I'm almost 29yo and I'm autistic. Lately, I've been dreaming about and it's leading to a small obsession with dolls. I've been thinking of getting a few and maybe even playing with them. Of course, it feels like I'm regressing or something given I'm an adult whose almost 30 and the last time I played with dolls I was, like, 11. I have about a hundred stuffed animals but I don't play with them, only cuddle one a night to help me sleep (I can't have my arms empty. It literally makes me unable to sleep). IDK. Would it be weird?

So, as I understood it when I first subbed a while back, the purpose was to ask a question that might on the surface be seen as kind of a dumb question. But this was essentially a 'safe space' where there was no judgment and people would post replies to help the OP understand something they didn't know.

But I've noticed that lately it's just become a sub to ask random questions a la r/AskReddit. The majority of the questions asked aren't 'stupid', they're just stuff like "What's your favorite condiment?" How is that stupid? I don't know, if that's just how the sub is now I guess it's whatever, but I feel like it's lost its intended purpose.

I constantly get told, "wow, you're so quiet!". Usually the situation is I'm either in the car, chilling/relaxing, etc. My normal go-to response is, "yea..." but is there a better way to respond? Sometimes I just have nothing to say 🤷‍♀️

I don’t mean this to sound harsh, because I also go out in public now wearing lounge pants….but when I look back on history at photos of public events until about the 1980s….people still dressed up to start their day/go out in public! What do you think caused this shift in us? I am trying to work on dressing nicer because it actually helps my depression to do so!

Asking this because I’m seeing a lot of young people using that word on twitter to describe powerful feminine energy (as a compliment)

We talk on instagram. He knows my real name and what I look like and stuff. After a year I just thought "hey I don't know his real first name" so I asked for it and he said he doesn't feel comfortable giving that out. Is this a subtle sign we aren't really friends?

Edit: to be clear we know what each other looks like and have talked over VMs. We live 7 hours apart. We've never met though

Can anyone give an unbiased answer as to which side is currently "winning" the Ukraine war? I feel like Ukraine isn't doing as well as most Ukraine-biased subreddits let on, but I also obviously have a hard time believing anything coming from the Russian government due to the amounts of lying and misinformation.

I just don't understand the appeal of going to some of these concerts and paying hundreds if not thousands of dollars for some general admission tickets to see a artist for a few hours. I do understand wanting to go to an event and having a nice evening with friends or a date night but when I hear that people are paying that much just to stand out in general admission for a few hours I don't really get the appeal.

I have been told by quite a few people that apparently your friends in high school doesn't matter much because then usually you just move on in life and don’t see much of any of them again. Is that really the case generally?

I am a person without a menstrual cycle, and have always wondered what it was like to have a menstrual cycle

In particular, I was wondering if there was any part of the cycle that was actually fulfilling or if there was even any pleasure associated with it--not sexual pleasure, necessarily, but anything positive at all

I partly ask this because almost everything I hear about a menstrual cycle has been negative, but for some menstruating people there may be some relief or sense of joy or pride in it, no?

This is the only sub I think this question fits, and I'm a bit trepidatious to ask the people in my life about this directly

Thank you in advance for your understanding and honesty
