The LanguageTool extension can’t handle large documents! I have a 400+ page document that has no red, blue, or green LT squiggles on it anywhere, and I can’t seem to get it to work. I have gotten it to work on shorter documents, and if I open them right now in their current state, the squiggles appear there. I tried removing the cache folder from the app data to see if that might help (it didn’t); I also set it to “Text Check” rather than “Paragraph Check” mode because I read somewhere that that might help (it didn’t!). I also have it set to use multiple cores since this is apparently a fairly labor-intensive process. No dice.

I did at one point get a javascript error message, which I can’t reproduce at the moment, but if it reappears, I’ll edit this post to include a screenshot.

I realize that LanguageTool is no longer supported, but when I tried its successor, WritingTool, I had some difficulties with it, and so I “downgraded” to LT (EDIT: version 6.4). It looks like WritingTool has been updated since I last tried it, so maybe switching back to that might work . . .

Anyway, that’s the state of play, any suggestions on how I might be able to get LT to work would be much appreciated!

EDIT: I’ve also noticed that LT isn’t checking words in a certain font, in this case “Courier Prime,” which is installed on my system (Using Linux Mint 22.1, btw). I set Courier Prime as the default font in LO options, and embedded the font in the document, but no luck. When I cut and “pasted special>unformatted text” some sample Courier text into another document with a different font, the squiggles returned! What gives?

Basically, title. What I'm trying to do is: have each chapter start with page 1. My chapters are marked as Heading 1 paragraphs. If I change Heading 1 style to «Insert, Pagea break, Before, With default page style, Page number 1», and add a Heading 1 paragraph, it indeed inserts an automatic page break before itself and starts on a new page with default page style, but page number is not set to 1: the numbering continues from previous chapter.

If I do Ctrl+Enter and set the exact same settings to a manual page break, the new page will start from a page number 1. The problem with this is that I would prefer to not do this manually, it is error prone, easy to forget or mess up, and in general I want to set up my styles so that everything is handled automatically without any direct/manual formatting.

Can anyone reproduce this issue?

There are many cases when people might want to have a dropdown list of the other entered values in a column.

And the ability to prohibit entering others.

Classic one: entering yes, no, maybe.

These are not boolean, but discrete, and others should not be allowed.

Do you know how to do that?

Answer

source

select your range D25:D99, then menu Data->Validity In dialogue Validity select from drop-down list variant “Cell range”, and bottom set “Source” (your H3:H25) Push OK

Here is an example.

When my cursor is right below a pasted image and I press enter, the image moves down with the cursor. How do I permanently stop this?

Hello!

I am very new to LibreOffice and I am trying to adjust and explore it. I have searched this question online but I can’t seem to find an answer to how I can sync LibreOffice works with iCloud? I have installed Collabora office, but I have no idea how to sync that with LibreOffice either… anybody up for teaching a newcomer?

Cheers!
