Hello everyone! I hope y'all doing great. I have a question related to Pre-Health Advising. I'm an international student on a premed track and I wanted to schedule an appointment with my advisor but her closest availability date is in October. What do I do? Can I drop in? I just want to get my academic planning because everybody got it but not me 😅 thank you!

I got an associates degree 1 year ago, and have transferred to Hunter to complete my bachelor’s degree. I’m a psychology major, and have taken an Statistics class at my previous college and had gotten an A in the class.

Last semester , I was trying to take Statistical psychology, but schedule builder kept insisting that I did not have a math perquisite. This made me think that it could have not transferred it over from my associates degree. So I ended up taking algebra. I’m a very consistent student, graduated from LaGuardia with a high GPA, and have gotten an 7 A’s or and one B+ on all classes in Hunter, except that Algebra class. I had gotten a D in it do to unseen circumstances.

I talked to an Advisor after and she told me that schedule builder was glitching and that I never even needed to take the algebra class as I already had the math credit from LaGuardia but she just needed to input it manually since the system “glitched” and did not recognize it. What’s stressing me is that the one D brought down my GPA from a 3.9 all the way to a 3.46. It wouldn’t make sense to retake a class that I don’t even need. What can be done about this? Is there a way to remove the grade from my record other than retaking the class?

hi i have recently ordered a few things and everytime they tried delivering it to brookdale i get the notifcation that “the business is closed”. does anyone else have this issue as well? do they not accept packages at all times 😭😭?

Floor 2 of the library has always been my spot. If it was difficult finding a place to post up last semester, it’s borderline impossible now. The library is absolutely busting at the seams with people due to floor 2 (which had excellent seating options) being closed for reno. Who can we talk to about this? I’m sick and tired of circling the floors looking for a place to sit only to end up having to sit on the dirty floor contemplating why I even go here in the first place. aite rant over lmk i guess

I'm taking REL 110 rn, which knocks out one of my Core requirements (individual and society). My major is biology, so it does NOT count towards the major itself, just the core requirement and writing intensive. I wanted to declare a Focus in Religion, but when I do the what-if on degreeworks, it only counts REL 110 towards the focus, not the core requirements. The same thing occurs if I pick the religion minor on what-if instead of focus study.

I thought as long as the class doesn't go towards my bio major, it can go towards the focus/minor and other requirements like core? Is degreeworks bugging or am I?

Im supposed to graduate this semester does anyone know the date for the ceremony?

He just reads off the textbook and when I went to math tutoring they told me the topic he’s teaching shouldn’t be taught in our class. I genuinely dread this class and idk how I’m gonna do on his tests. If anyone had him please give tips. Thank you!!! 😭

Hi! I'm a PhD student studying alternative treatments for mental illness in college students across the US. As a part of my dissertation research I'm looking into how lifestyle factors like diet can impact mental health and I was hoping to get a few Hunter students to complete a questionnaire.

By accident I canceled my PPAP 1000 event that is tomorrow and I tried to register but it says that registration is closed. Does anyone know if I’ll be able to join it tomorrow since it is a required seminar? Or will I get an email with a link?

I’m a work study student who worked at one department last spring and am already set to work in a diff dept this semester but my hirer can’t hire me bc the finaidoffice needs to press a button in order for me to start working. They opened my message to them in august and haven’t replied since. I’ve reached out, even to the head of the office but still nothing. Maybe not a question and just a venting lol but if anyone else experienced anything similar, what did you do to get them to finally respond to you?

I love going to a CUNY to save money, I love that Hunter is in the city, as I am a queensite who doesn't leave the borough much. But the thing I hate about Hunter is how hard it is to make friends. I am a Junior who started college during the pandemic (2020) (should be a senior but I took last semester off), and I have made no school friends as a result. It's really been hard on me, as someone who is extraverted and is always open to people in other areas of my life (family and work). Despite that, even I am guilty of the classic 1 hour commute to hunter, go to class, run out of class and rush to the train to commute 1 hour home.

A little about me, I'm a 20F working at a construction company. I live in Astoria, I'm ethnically Greek though an Astoria native through and through. In my spare time, I ride my bike, go to the gym, and geek out about series/shows. I went to HS at The High School for Math Science and Engineering at CCNY (graduated 2020). Besides Math, I really enjoy taking Philosophy classes at Hunter.

No offense to my fellow math majors, but we are not the most social major. We are also a smaller major at Hunter. Any math majors want to meet up and form a study group? I can make a whatsapp chat or an instagram group to coordinate the days. Comment/PM if interested!

Does hunter college have art rooms? Like accessible to all students. I'm not taking any art classes this sem but sometimes i just want to sit and sketch

I applied for summer graduation and it’s recently been approved. Does anybody know when the ceremony takes place or if there is a ceremony in the first place?

Hi, so I graduated in Spring this year. My last year or so I was not given financial aid so I had to pay out of pocket for every semester with a payment plan. I have never taken out any loans. Financial aid covered my Spring 2022 and Fall 2021 semesters but now I am receiving an email from Bursar that I own them 6K for those semesters and if I don't pay them before Sept 19th, they will send it to collections. I am in shock. Firstly, I am just NOW hearing about this. Secondly.... I know for a fact that you can not start a semester without either having some aid, payment plan or a loan ready. They can not allow you to just attend classes without any sort of security. Plus I have a letter from financial aid stating that I am covered for those semesters . I have recently went to my CUNYfirst and saw that they revised my financial aid this year JUNE! Thats after I have graduated! Is this even legal? How can they suddenly ask for 6K after I have graduated + have a letter from financial aid that they cover it. What should I do, I am panicking......

A Genuine question that i have. I am considering transferring to another school next semester. I currently dorm at Brookdale. Could i just transfer out/leave and not be liable to pay brookdale for the spring semester?

I know it sound like an obvious answer but i seriously dont know.

incoming freshman who just realized TODAY that i was enlisted into the wrong math class during orientation. turns out i was at math milestone 10100, but was put into 10000. had to switch into the correct one and got placed at waitlist #11, with classes starting this friday. is it joever for me

The title speaks for itself. I’m planning on upgrading cuz one of my classes basically requires I have an apple device with a M series chip.

It’s an 11 inch 2nd Gen model (2020) with WiFi and Cellular. It’ll come with an Apple Pencil (the magnetic ones), a Magic Keyboard (The one that makes the iPad “float”), and a charger. If I didn’t mention it assume that it doesn’t come with it.

The iPad itself is basically like new. Apple Pencil has a couple dings, but otherwise functional (The same goes for magic keyboard).

I’m looking for like $600. Would vastly prefer if you were at Brookdale. If you don’t go to Hunter, then I lowkey don’t wanna sell it to you at all. That’s my preference. If you have any other questions, then just shoot me a DM.

Hi All. I keep getting announcements and emails from my professors on blackboard to purchase my textbooks for my classes. However, I have heard from a lot of people that you should wait until the first day of class to purchase anything. Should I purchase the textbooks or wait until the first day of class. P.S. it’s my chem 101 & 100 lab profs sending the emails.

Hey guys, when any of you are trying to log into Cunyfirst do you get a “this site is not secure” notice? I got one this morning when I tried logging in to cuny first to change a class on my laptop. I’m not getting issues when logging in through mobile. Has anyone had this happen to them?
