If you are using the tuya cloud integration, give this a try instead. https://github.com/make-all/tuya-local

Or one of the local tuya versions available in HACS.

Ive been using the local integrations for 6 months and I haven't had a device go offline or missing yet.

I know, I know, But if you have some tuya devices, this is as good as it gets for LAN control.

I just set up a VM with home assisstant on an old MacBook last week and today I finalized an automation that handles creating a Todoist task to refill my humidifier or one of my 2 roborock vacuums AND THEN will complete the task if the water tank gets detached.

The completion of the task is CRAZY. I know ppl here say it can automate pretty much anything, but automating my Todoist tasks when I conplete one is beyond satisfying.

That's all. I was excited and my fiance said I'm extra, then rolled her eyes lol.

Home appliances should not connect with the internet but it would be useful to have control over smart features.

I have seen many 'share your automation' posts on this sub, but most of them include automations which are very specific to that user or are very niche.

So instead, share some automations which are very common and useful for anyone (think motion based lights, sleep based automations, etc.). Everyone might have a different way of implementing it or maybe have some useful conditions or triggers which others might not have thought of and can improve their automations.

Along with your HA I assume. I currently have 61 devices on my LAN, all working from the main LAN. I use strictly Omada devices. Is it worth it to move all the devices to a vlan? Is the only benefit to stop devices from calling home?

From the reviews, the Tempest isn't accurate in regards to wind and rain. Does anyone have any other experiences? I like the idea of ultrasonic anemometers but are they reliable? Let's discuss!

FYI: I built my own, works fine except for my RS485 modbus. I can't find a transceiver that is reliable so I loose my wind measurements. I'm at the point where maybe building my own and maintaining it isn't that fun and I should just buy one.

Hi everyone! I was trying to think of inexpensive ways to do a whole home setup for voice assistants. Basically, I want it to be either in a wall/ceiling, or hidden (so something small), and relatively cheap. I was hoping to mirror the effectiveness of the echo system, they're very cheap and effective, but the downside is Amazon.

I am currently tinkering with a Voice Preview, but that has the downside of weak speakers. They work for my bedroom and a test, but putting one in every room in a house isn't that... wise.

Also, what models are people using, or is HA cloud the go to right now?

Thinking of modernizing my place with some smart gear, but I don’t want to blow cash on flashy stuff that’s useless. What gadgets have truly impacted your day-to-day? I’m after useful, time-saving tools—extra points if they sync well with Google Assistant or Alexa.
