Hey everyone 👋

I’ve tried a lot of Eisenhower Matrix and productivity apps, but honestly, most of them felt outdated or didn’t meet my needs. The UIs were clunky, the features were either too basic or buried behind paywalls, or the apps forced me into cloud sync and signups.

I wanted something that’s:

  • Modern and clean (Material You design)

  • Fully offline and private — no tracking, no ads

  • Focused on the classic Eisenhower Matrix method

  • Easy to use: add, move, and complete tasks effortlessly

So I built **Focus** — an open-source Flutter app that’s just that. It uses Hive for local storage, has light/dark mode, and stays 100% offline. No accounts, no push notifications, no distractions.

If you’re someone who wants a simple and effective way to manage your tasks without the bloat, check it out:

GitHub: https://github.com/Appaxaap/Focus

F-Droid: (coming soon)

Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on how to make it better!

Thanks for reading 🙏

So far I got the usual utility apps and Obtainium, but I heard of Discoverium recently and I was wondering if it would be better to change to that one

Also been looking for a keyboard app, heard FUTO was good, and it is, but I was wondering if there's something with the translation option, which is what keeps me on Gboard.

Besides that, dunno, just recommend me any app for anything. Media editors, games, utility, alternatives for Google and services (as long as they don't get me banned), silly apps, anything works, and any other recommendations in general are welcome

Just released the first version, try it if you're used to download torrents on your phone. Some additional features will be coming on upcoming releases till then use it and report any issues you encountered.

Former devs of Organic Maps forked the project and created CoMaps citing allegations about lack of transparency - a discussion can be found on the OM github: https://github.com/organicmaps/organicmaps/issues/10654

What are your thoughts about it? Have you used CoMaps?

Does anyone have a work-around? Ive never had much luck in changing the settings -> data sources.

Fuck this government, we are really living in the most stupid timeline. My insulin is more expensive than it was eight months ago. Trying to read geologic reference material from the USGS impossible now as every other link returns a 404. Now we can't even have accurate weather reporting, to boot? This is ridiculous.

What's the best foss music player (for streaming songs) at the moment? Me personally, I'm switching between ViTune and Metrolist.

Hi, I’m the dev of PlainApp – the open-source app that lets you securely manage your phone from a web browser. Access files, media, contacts, SMS, calls, and more through a simple, easy-to-use interface on your desktop.

I’m curious:

  • What do you use PlainApp for?
  • If you uninstalled it, why?

Any feedback is welcome — it helps me improve the app. Thanks!

Try the GitHub version — it’s fully featured. The Play Store one has 1M+ downloads, but many features were removed due to Google’s restrictions.

https://github.com/ismartcoding/plain-app/releases

Thanks for all the feedback! From what I’ve gathered, many users prefer having a dedicated desktop app — it feels more convenient, always accessible, and generally more reliable compared to relying solely on the browser. I’ll seriously consider this direction moving forward.

License: https://github.com/cygnusx-1-org/Discoverium/blob/main/LICENSE.md

GNU General Public License v3.0

I just discovered this alternative to Obtainium that I thought others might enjoy.

Main differences from Obtainium from what I can tell:

  • can act more like a repository
  • more robust feature for finding apps, although I think a similar feature is in Obtainium now when you go to "add app"
  • built in support for AppVerifier (https://github.com/soupslurpr/AppVerifier), an app signing certificate hash viewer

ISC License https://github.com/soupslurpr/AppVerifier/blob/main/LICENSE.txt

I'm not affiliated with the app, but I just thought it was a nice alternative to Obtainium that strives to be similar to F-Droid in a way.

Lately this has been eating my head, I like how simple, modern and minimalistic Chromium/Cromite is, but I'm missing extensions like Libredirect

But Firefox/Ironfox is still old and sometimes slow, I don't know which one to choose...

Lately I'm downloading my music in .flac, certainly the improvement is noticeable, but there are times that I would like to explore new songs, the bad thing is that there are certain players that do not get the best possible quality, there will be something that does?

I have also tried Metrolist, I like its interface, but maybe there are some apps that I don't know that are better...

I've been following some apps for a while, at first there were a lot of apps that were working fine but later on more and more problems came to the surface.

It kinda seems like a lot of them are dying, I remember Vimusic, Innertune (that updates once in a few months right now), Spotube went down with problems from Spotify (But should come up again sooner or later), Rimusic went down, Harmony Music will become an offline player, SPMP (that was cool as well) isn't active as well and so on...

Other than personal reasons, it seems like Youtube is giving a lot of struggles on FOSS Apps (and probably some legal issues as well, just like Spotify on Spotube), what do you guys think?

Will it become impossible to use FOSS Apps with YT Music clients?

Open Source Alternative to Pixel Screenshots

Hey folks,

I’ve been working on an open-source, AI-powered screenshot manager that helps you organize and search your screenshots effortlessly. While inspired by Pixel Screenshots, this is built from the ground up to run on any Android device (technically iOS too, since it’s Flutter-based).

Originally I built this because Pixel Screenshots wasn’t available outside the Pixel 9 lineup, and I didn’t trust most alternatives — screenshots often contain sensitive info, and privacy matters. This app puts privacy first. It’s open-source, fully offline except when using AI, and you're in full control.

Pixel Screenshots definitely has an edge on privacy with its fully on-device AI. This app takes a different route — it uses Google Gemini 2.0 or 2.5 Pro in the cloud (yes, you get to choose the model) by plugging in your own API key. On-device support is on the roadmap, but my main focus for now was making it accessible — especially for Android 10+ devices that might not have the specs for local inference.

It’s not on the Play Store yet, so you’ll need to bring your own API key (instructions included).

🛠️ GPL-3 licensed, fully open-source

My favorite feature? It automatically sorts your screenshots into smart collections.

💬 Would love to know:

  • What more features you'd want in a screenshot manager like this?
  • Any suggestions to make it better?

Your feedback (and PRs!) are super welcome 🙌

Love Spotify but there are somethings, now that I am getting more into music, that I really would like in a streaming software (in addition to all the Spotify features):

  • cross compatible app
  • ranking system (able to leave notes on albums as well?)
  • offline mode
  • more extensive library
  • more music stats
  • customizable homepage

I know I'm asking for a lot, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  • Acode
  • Next player
  • Read you
  • Heliboard

P.S: You may even include more than 5 if you want to, because I mean come on there are a lot of good foss apps. :)
