I'm running FF and have been a big fan for years.

In my experience it was always fast to start up and easy and quick to use.

However, in the last two or three months it has been constantly updated but it seems to have in that time gotten much slower to start and is just slower in general and consumes more resources than before...

Chrome still runs as it always has on my system, as does all my other software... but FF is markedly slower these last two months and takes up to 5 minutes to start.

The strangest thing is I have it on my machine at home as well, and it is pretty much the same - the last two or so months FF has gotten markedly slower and takes longer to start.

Or is it just me being fu-ed up?

I just discovered it yesterday, thanks to u/Nihmussy and it is the best no nonsense browser on android. If you just add few additional adblock lists like fuckfuckadblock and cosmetic filtering user script. It is literally the best browser on android. I really wish it had a desktop counterpart and I could sync things with it.

Is it safe to use a browser like firefox nightly for a daily use and for personal stuff. Bescause there are a lot of update like one everyday, so is there a risk ?

If you use more than one browser on your phone how do you divide them or compartmentalize them ?

For those who don't know, the new tab button in brave vertical tabs is at the very bottom of the browser window. A much more sensible approach would be like Edge/Vivaldi where the new tab button was just below the existing tabs.

Hello, I want a browser that is good looking and customizable but not a straight up spyware like Chrome. It doesn't need to be as private as DDgo or Tor, just private enough. I'm a Brave user and even though I like a lot of things about it, I'm tired of the UI. What browsers would you recommend for me?

Right now I’m using Safari with a few extensions on iPhone iOS. Just want to see what everybody is using and recommends for iOS for ADs/Cookie blockers.

Hello everybody! My name is Donglin, and I’m a student at the University of Edinburgh. I’m doing my final project, which aims to learn the Tor browser users’ awareness and perceptions of security regarding the update of Tor relays. As part of this project, I am conducting a survey focusing on Tor browser users and would greatly appreciate your valuable insights. The survey is open to individuals who have ever used the Tor browser, and it does not require any prior background knowledge.

This survey consists of 24 questions, and it is anticipated to take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Your participation will be entirely anonymous, no login or sensitive information is required. Your responses will be confidential and used for research purposes only.

How to participate:

I created the survey on BlockSurvey, which is a privacy-first survey platform with no ads, trackers, or cookies, and employs end-to-end encryption. And BlockSurvey doesn’t block access over Tor network.

Hello! So I've been a silent observer on this sub for a good few months now, and there's one thing that keeps cropping up in the comments under various posts: the topic of Brave Browser's UI. If I had a penny for every time I stumbled upon a post bemoaning its design, calling it ugly and demanding it's overhaul, I'd be sitting on a plush sofa right now!

So, please explain this to me: What's the fuss about Brave's User Interface? What is it that you find 'ugly' about it? Also, if you dislike it, what are the aspects that could be improved?

I'm genuinely curious and eager to hear this sub's perspective- because I am oblivious to this hate; and personally, love the UI myself due to it's non-obsession with rounded corners (yet) and simplicity.

Pretty much the title. I am a semi tech savvy user who has just been learning and looking into setting up ad blockers, etc. and quickly came across all the manifest v3 discussion. I understand it will affect desktop browser extensions.

But a question I can’t find answered anywhere in my searching is whether it is relevant to MOBILE browsing at all? I assume everyone in the universe already knows this except me, hence why I can’t find anything mentioning it. But still would like to confirm?

Hello there,

I've been reading a lot about browsers but I'm getting anywhere with it.

What I understand and what I also know is that Chrome is the monopoly like Internet Explorer used to be. Chrome aka Google sells ads, and they obv won't shot it their own leg and block ads and trackers.

Google made it harder for Ad blockers to work, and now they try to add some DRM shit. I don't mind it, I will just refuse to open any website that's using this AD DRM shit and I will probably move to web3 as web3 looks better the more dumb stuff google does.

Now Firefox was seen as a big alternative for people who don't like giving a lot of power to one single ad company, sad part is that Firefox used to be good but goes downhill pretty bad. Their whole identitiy is based of "Chrome is bad come to us". In fact I really like webkit and chromium based browsers, they just work and many people work on it. Issue also with chromium is that this DRM nonsense will be added to it, even tho it is "Open Source".

So I'm using now Brave because chromium based, fast, uses v8 js engine and feels fast, blocks all ads, and I'm happy with it. But Brave also seem sorta sketchy. Is their only income the ads you see when you open your browser or tab? Or what is exactly going on here?

It somehow seems like there is no definitive anwser to which browser should we use. I don't even need any adons to be honest, unless I write them myself or download from github after checking them if they aren't sketchy.

I'm happy to read and learn more about it, if there is something we can count on, that is privacy focused, 100% transparent, no bloat...
