Firefox users report high CPU and memory usage in the latest release, caused by browser's on-device AI inferencing for its 'smart tab grouping' feature.

Servo was supposed to be the future rendering engine for Firefox, but now it's an independent project. I tried it out and it's pretty impressive! #webdev #firefox

Hey #Firefox hackers! My credit card issuer, Chase, does something funky where its page won't load unless it's in the focused tab:

https://secure.chase.com/web/auth/dashboard

I want to get it to load in the background instead.

Any ideas? I tried turning off all the lazy-load-enabled settings in about:config but that didn't work.

I guess if anybody cares, next Tuesday, #Firefox 141 will be released. Among other things, a few good items:

  1. On #Linux, Firefox uses less memory and no longer requires a forced restart after an update has been applied by a package manager.

  2. Support for #Cookies Having Independent Partitioned State (CHIPS) is now re-enabled, allowing developers to opt a cookie into storage partitioning per top-level site.

How should we ship Firefox next release?

We're working on Drauger OS 7.8 right now, and we wanted to know how the community feels. Should we ship #Firefox ESR as a native package, or normal @[email protected] as a #flatpak?

We won't ship normal Firefox as a native package, as that would require some complicated packaging mechanics to allow. And, we can't ship Firefox as a snap as, with the way we build our ISOs, we cannot ship snaps.

So, thoughts? What would you prefer? Vote and discuss below!
