The headline doesn't really tell you why this is important... so here you go!

To promote the first "live action" appearance of Krypto the Super Dog in the new Superman movie, D.C. is re-printing Krypto's first appearance, Adventure Comics #210. 3 copies contain a "Golden Biscuit" ticket for admission to a Superman premier in Los Angeles.

Because this is a special promo, D.C. made it available to retailers for $0.75 per copy. Retailers could decide if they wanted to sell them for the $3.99 cover price, give them away, whatever.

BUT - Retailers found out AFTER the books arrived, that each copy also includes a free one month trial to DCs online service.

Retailers essentially paid $0.75 a copy to advertise an online competitor to their own physical stores.

Some retailers reacted predictably, refusing to sell their reprint stock, some even choosing to destroy them instead.

BUT - NOW it turns out, this special polybagged edition ALSO contains a misprint of the original book.

A book already in limited distribution because retailers are destroying them.

This comic came out in the year 2000. I guess back then GPS was so unused in the general public, they felt the need to explain what that meant.

It's just funny to me. Seeing it explicitly explained with an editors note what GPS is.

Hello!

I'm trying to get into comics and I'm looking for something that's almost entirely visual if possible. I don't hate reading, I love it actually, but I am coming from the perspective that the unique aspect of comics is their ability to show things that are hard to describe in writing. Visual flair is really important to me and I appreciate things that take a meaningful/stylistic approach to illustration rather than a strictly narrative one. Any recommendations?

So, what is the point of Annuals? If a story comes in monthly issue form, and they're numbered as such, how would you know where an annual fits in with the story? If you're buying in real time, you might know "Ok, Issue 64 came out last month, issue 65 comes out in a week, and the annual came out today. Therefore, the annual comes out between 64 and 65."

But what if you're only discovering a series years later? And what would an annual do that they couldn't just cover in the main series?

I'm not much of a comic book guy, but I do like them. I dabble here and there, but it's VERY overwhelming, which is why I stick mostly to batman. At least with batman, they nuke the whole thing every few years, so you can start over, and follow a series through.

With spiderman, it's like "Ok, he's a high school nerd, who has super powers. And the whole series is all canon to each other, and it all fits in a series. But also, Peter Parker has been in high school since the 1940s. But also the world around him ages, and now J Jameson has a podcast, and other modern day reflections are shown in the comic.....but also the series was very much set in modern day 1940s when the series originally began."

THAT'S CONFUSING AS FUCK!!!

And so now, I'm seeing a Harley Quinn series that started in 2021, but there's annuals. I haven't read the series, but.....why do those exist? I don't understand!

If you aren't familiar with his work, he had an absolutely LEGENDARY TWELVE-YEAR run on the Incredible Hulk (#331 to #466) and an equally good run on X-Factor (#70 to #89, vol. 3 #1-50, 200-262, All New X-Factor #1-20).

He was also responsible for the Star Trek: The Next Generation novel "Q In Law".

I just learned little nemo adventures in slumberland is based off a comic. Loved that feverdream movie as a kid, doesn't really holdup as an adult because of the annoying side characters sadly.

Went 20 years not knowing it was based off a comic book.

Interesting bit: She doesn't consider herself a graphic novelist, this just seemed to be the best way for her to tell the story.

Space Ghost #12 - Been digging SG, Herculoids, and the SG/Jonny Quest crossover.

Ultimate Black Panther #16 - Ultimate X-Men #15 - I have to admit, the new Ultimate Universe stuff is getting old. Seems like they're just spinning their wheels.

Uncanny X-Men #14 - Still not sure what Marvel is trying to do with the X-books anymore.

X-Factor #10 - Final issue.

Reading crisis on multiple earths and Johnny Thunder seems like a really interesting character/concept. Basically his own genie? The powerscaling would be difficult but fun, I like how he just goes back and ruins the heroes origins so they don't exist anymore. Did think it was odd when he replaced superheroes with gangster counterparts by giving them their origins and that it worked for replacing superman too. Was he not an alien baby yet when that came out lol?

Some people want to be loved weird, "I wish that everyone would love they want to be loved"

Seems like taking away choice forever for everyone?

It's implied other humanoid species existed like lizardmen but a human made a wish to wipe all the other ones out and make humans the dominant/only species in one of the last times genies came. (Its just one panel where they say they wish the opressed were the opressor and another with lizardman having wishes in the past) Kinda fked up those species just dont exist anymore and don't get wished back lol.

I'm assuming apocalypse does something like this? (going off the movie where he evolves/upgrades some mutants)

I already know of dr manhattan, just read Divinity from Valiant and really enjoyed it's take on a human -> godlike being. Specifically where they have and exert power over reality, rather than just having more energy to pew at a higher scale.

I always find godlike stories more intresting when it isn't just them fighting at a grander scale and they actually use godlike powers to manipulate reality. Also when they start off as humans, arent born gods and haven't already existed forever.
