It’s now one of the most anticipated events of “Summertime Chi,” but it started as a small outdoor get-together with a little music, for family and friends.

Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn are two of the “Chosen Few DJs,” known around the world for bringing innovative, feel-good music to millions of house fans.

Coined in 1977 by DJ and producer Wayne Williams, “The Chosen Few Disco Corporation” originally included friends and South Side DJs Jessie Saunders, Alan King and brothers Tony and Andre Hatchett. In fact, it was a Hatchett family Fourth of July picnic behind the Museum of Science and Industry, where the festival first took shape.

Hunter said the whole thing caught everyone by surprise.

Liberation Kitchen was a vegan hotspot in Chicago, offering plant-based versions of Chicago dogs, doughnuts and a range of delicious food. But, on June 24, Liberation Kitchen made the announcement that they're closing. The good news, though, is that they're still going to focus on their main business, Upton's Naturals, according to the statement.

if you dont already have one, think about it! with all this nonsense happening to city budgets and all that riff-raff, lets try to keep libraries accessible to EVERYONE! even if you dont use it often, what can it hurt? they offer a plethora of great programs, aside from free media. recently i saw a flyer for free meals for children this summer, even if they dont have a library card!

do it for yourself and your community <3 https://www.chipublib.org/get-a-library-card/

Nice little place with ~ 8 tables and a basic menu of hotdogs, tamales, chips, guacamole, etc. Usually every table has umbrellas but a few blew away in that crazy storm a couple weeks ago. Shari, the nice owner, is working on replacing them. AFAIK, this is about as close to the water you can get with a table and some beach grub.
