Maybe not everyone is aware but rats have been introduced to our community and are spreading. I’ll admit I didn’t think much of it until they were seen at a property I’m responsible for.

It seems like there is a very limited window to eradicate this invasive and undesirable species and our community is squandering it.

...and to others who ride like that: don't. I was turning left onto Pioneer Bridge from Ann Morrison and you were coming off the bridge, headed south. You were going way too fast and took the turn wide, came into my lane, and hit me head on. Please, please, please don't ride like that in busy areas. Y'all need to recalibrate your sense of an appropriate speed for the Greenbelt. Also, I was on my way to pick up my toddler; if he had been hurt this would be a different post and I'd be hunting you down.

Big lawsuit determining how special districts are to be governed.

Short version - developers of Harris Ranch voted in special property taxes with minimal population (see John Oliver's segment on "Special Districts") to offload cost of development on future homeowners as additional property taxes. This created a bond backed by Boise but paid by the homeowners through higher taxes. Some homeowners bought in only to realize those taxes were kind of onerous, and questioned some of the projects paid for by those tax funds.

This model has the potential to create a patchwork of higher taxes and complex districts, and additional profits/lower risk for developers. This case is the first of its kind and will heavily influence whether we see lots of Community Infrastructure Districts in Idaho in years to come.

Hi r/Boise.

We've long refrained from posting our stories to this sub (with two exceptions over eight years). I've taken rule 2 "Avoid advertising, self promotion, soliciting" to mean we shouldn't be posting stories here ourselves. (The community posts many of our stories anyway, and we thank you).

But maybe I'm being too careful, and I thought I'd ask the group. I've seen a few other outlets doing this recently, and some organizations. r/Boise traffic to our site is helpful - but because we don't have a paywall to smush you into our third-party programmatic ads that are based on generating high volumes of clicks, it's not a big business driver. Mostly, I like to see our work get read -- and that in turn drives the business forward and allows it to all work.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Event Details

The Of Dice and Dens Podcast is proud to announce that we are once again putting on our three day online streaming marathon of tabletop gaming one-shots to help raise money for Boise’s Simply Cats, a cage free, no-kill cat shelter. The online streaming event will be held June 27-29, from 12pm to 8pm Mountain time.

Initially conjured up in 2020 during the shutdown, the Meowrathon started as a half-baked idea to run a live-streamed one-shot adventure to supplement Simply Cats’ donations through the statewide crowd-funding event, Idaho Gives. Within a week it had grown into a two-day extravaganza of 6 games. We were joined by folks not only from all over the country, but from all over the world! We were also able to entice Captain Shaw himself, Todd Stashwick to join us! We were able to raise $1,550 to help cats and kittens find homes.

Thanks to the success and fun of the first year, we decided to turn it into a yearly event, only bigger, moving to three days. With more time to plan we were able to have a wider variety of games and more Idaho locals to play with. Since then we’ve had lots of great folks help us out. Todd came back and brought a bunch of his friends with him, including David Blue and Alicia Marie! Our very own Jason Klamm also managed to wrangle James Urbaniak and Riley Silverman to join us in a game. In the last few years we’ve raised over $5,500 for Simply Cats.

If you or someone you know would be interested in participating, either as a player or game host, or if you just want to watch along please feel free to visit https://meowrathon.com/.

Of Dice and Dens is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game Podcast that focuses on showcasing third party content by smaller / independent creators. Our members are based out of Washington, Idaho, and Michigan. We all own and love cats.

I used to live in my car in Boise, Idaho. For nine months, that car was my bedroom, my safety net, and my only shelter. I wasn’t camping. I wasn’t trying to cause trouble. I was surviving.

Now Idaho has passed a law, SB1141, that makes it illegal to sleep in public—even in your own vehicle—if you don’t have housing. They are calling it an anti-camping law, but let’s be honest. This is not about tents. This is about people. This is about survival.

If this law had been in place when I was going through it, I could have been fined, arrested, or forced out of the only space I had to rest. Instead of support, people in crisis are getting punishment.

I’m sharing my story because this law goes into effect on July 1, and I don’t want anyone else to lose the chance I had to rebuild my life. I’m now housed and stable because I was allowed to survive.

I started a petition to stop SB1141 before it goes into effect. If you believe no one should be criminalized for being poor and unhoused, please consider signing and sharing.

Hey there. I was referred to a really awful obgyn at St Luke's because I'm hoping to get a hysterectomy to remedy a longtime health issue. This Dr was ...gross and I hope to never see him again (complaint was filed).

Anyhow, I'm looking for a doctor who hopefully does laparoscopic hysterectomy, and bonus points if a woman, or at least not a total douchebag. Ada or Canyon county is fine. Please and thank you.

Who do you think is really behind the network of “freedom” and “patriot” news sites in Idaho?

Do you care about...

  • An America defined by respecting each others' dignities, rights, and freedoms?
  • Protecting America's public lands, and preserving the progress we've made on climate action?
  • Sane economic and health policies that follow sound science?
  • Respecting our allies?
  • The rule of law rather than a dictator's whims?

Join the rally at the Capitol and make your voice heard!

Edit, from the comments:

The actual full event is 11:30 to 3 as entertainment has been planned ahead of the speeches that start at 1.

Joining Idaho 50501 on other socials or our discord is always appreciated.

Seems like some good progress in adding density.
