Why?

A lot of people don't see actual news, and need it. It's a different audience than here, and that's honestly why it's important they see it.

I'm temporarily banned, so y'all will have to do it for me. The mod overreach there is nuts, but surprisingly there's still more support for the protests than not. But yeah, you'll get yelled at by a few.

I get it, times are crazy. Maybe you’re busy, maybe you‘re not able to protest due to physical, logistical limitations, maybe you’re afraid of arrest, violence, or retaliation. Whatever the reason, it’s okay. There’s other things you can do to help. I’m sharing some of my resources.

**COMMENT AND SHARE YOUR RESOURCES, SUGGESTIONS, ETC.**

Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) has printable red cards in multiple languages. https://www.ilrc.org/red-cards-tarjetas-rojas These can be kept in a wallet, purse, etc., for both citizens and noncitizens alike. I printed out 400 in each Spanish/English and distributed around Nampa to Mexican markets, bakeries, etc. (Plus I got delicious tamales at Suarez bakery)

Call your representatives. Yes, we’re in a red state. No, it likely won’t have a huge effect. We have to have our voices heard. Even if it falls on deaf ears.

VOTE! In every election; no matter how small. Vote these people out of office at their next reelection.

Speak up. Speak out. To friends, family, to the person standing next to you. Social media has driven us apart and everyone feels isolated and impotent. ”What can I do? I’m just one person?” We’re better together and we can build community. This means supporting people, showing up for them, helping them through the hard times, and standing up for the ones who need someone right now. Listen to people’s stories. Check in with people, especially those who are parts of vulnerable communities (Hispanic, LGBT, Immigrants, etc) Ask a neighbor if they want to do a meal swap. Maybe you each make a big batch of something and share it every other week to share expenses and get to know each other. If you have the good fortune of enough food in your belly and roof over your head, find a way to pay it forward. Even in the smallest ways. Make someone a meal. Donate your old blankets to an animal shelter. Bring gloves, socks, etc., to those who need it.

Donate your time or money to non-profits who support causes you appreciate. I like PODER Idaho, The Community Center, Clutch Nampa, the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, The SierraClub - Idaho Chapter, among others.

Last night, my husband and I were driving back home from a friend’s place. We were on Federal Way, heading toward downtown, with 2-3 cars ahead of us. Out of nowhere, this truck came up from behind, sped past us and the next car, using the yellow line to pass everyone illegally. He was all over the road, driving like he didn’t care about any rules.

Eventually, all the cars overtook him — except us. At some point, he slowed down and literally stopped in the middle of the road, straddling two lanes. As we got closer, he suddenly opened his door, which freaked us out. I told my husband to reverse, and luckily another car came up behind us — at which point the truck driver closed his door and drove off again.

But it didn’t stop there.

From then on, we kept a safe distance behind him because he was still driving erratically — switching lanes constantly, driving super slow at times, then speeding up again. After a few traffic signals, he moved into the yellow line again and turned on his indicator, so we thought he was pulling over. We passed him and kept going.

Suddenly, he was behind us — following us, matching our speed even when we sped up. It was unnerving.

When we finally reached our apartment complex, we turned in, and he moved into the yellow line like he was about to follow us. But he didn’t come in — he just paused near the entrance and then left.

Nothing happened physically, thank God, but the whole thing felt so off. I don't know what his intentions were. Maybe it was just some aggressive driver or someone under the influence, but honestly, it scared me.

I’ve been on edge since it happened. Just wanted to get this out there. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

I can't make it out until later today, but I'll be listening and watching until I can. Be safe everyone. Bring lots of water and snacks, as well as make sure you are all covered up! Sunscreen people!

Thank you guys, I've never felt patriotic in my life at 33, but I'm feeling very patriotic these days.

I want to spread the word as Idaho has more to lose than any state other than Alaska. Committee Chair Sen. Mike Lee Has proposed a land sale bill (a line item of the big beautiful bill). So this is a federal issue with a trickle down effect to states.

Terms of these land sales include concepts like "the property must solely be used for housing for ten years." And unless someone owns adjacent land a parcel can only be bought by each person. This is a land grab. Reach out and voice your displeasure in offloading public lands to solve financial hardships. Debt will always come back, public lands never do.

Reach the Idaho reps with a voice mail if this is not in your best interest.

I received the following from Mobilize. Know your rights...just in case.

I'm looking forward to seeing you ALL tomorrow! Please do remember that this is a NON-VIOLENT protest. Here are some tips from the ACLU:

Stay calm. Make sure to keep your hands visible. Don't argue, resist, or obstruct the police, even if you believe they are violating your rights.

Point out that you are not disrupting anyone else's activity and that the First Amendment protects your actions.

Ask if you are free to leave. If the officer says yes, calmly walk away.

If you are under arrest, you have a right to ask why. Otherwise, say you wish to remain silent and ask for a lawyer immediately. Don't say anything or sign anything without a lawyer.

You have the right to make a local phone call, and if you're calling your lawyer, police are not allowed to listen.

You never have to consent to a search of yourself or your belongings. If you do explicitly consent, it can affect you later in court.

Police may "pat down" your clothing if they suspect you have a weapon and may search you after an arrest.

Police officers may not confiscate or demand to view your photographs or video without a warrant, nor may they delete data under any circumstances. However, they may order citizens to cease activities that are truly interfering with legitimate law enforcement operations.

What to do if you believe your rights have been violated When you can, write down everything you remember, including the officers' badge and patrol car numbers and the agency they work for.

Get contact information for witnesses.

Take photographs of any injuries.

Once you have all of this information, you can file a written complaint with the agency's internal affairs division or civilian complaint board.

If you were led to believe from the newspaper that the closure of this neat eating spot was to be the end of the month.... You are too late.. We planned a final hurrah yesterday.. and found it already closed. They were neat folks with a neat establishment... Wish them well in the next chapter.

I know a number of folks on this subreddit really like Realms, so I wanted to pass it along that they are going through a tough time and could use whatever support you can give them. The Idaho Beverage Control determined that they either had to give up their alcohol license or become a 21+ venue.

For the time being they have chosen to give up their alcohol license, which is going to be a big financial strain. Realms has been a great place for both adults and families to go out and have fun since they opened, so I encourage everyone to continue going out to support them until they can get the situation sorted out.
