2nd hand Samsung from 3 years ago is still better and cheaper.

Cheaper? Yes. Better? Hell no, unless you can root it and install a custom ROM.

The only notable thing about Bazzite is that it's built on top of Fedora Atomic, making it immutable like SteamOS.

Without that, it's just a regular old distro with some opinions about which software should be preinstalled.

Wouldn't the Steam Flatpak still work?

Throwing a tantrum isn't how to get what you want. This is a common behavior in the OSS world from wannabe BDFLs. Linus Torvalds or Guido van Rossum earned that title through merit, not through the simple luck of your side project going viral.

Bazzite is just Fedora Atomic with some extra preinstalled software. If it dies, it'll hurt the community of Linux gamers who picked it for whatever reason, but it won't make Fedora maintain 32 bit packages forever.

What does game preservation have to do with right to repair? I support both, but if people don't care about preserving games, latching it onto the right to repair movement is just going to drag it down for no reason.

I never preorder games, but I was going to for this one until I tried the demo and saw it was buggy and laggy.

Monster Hunter is a legit awesome and addicting (in a good way) series. This latest one is a dud, but pretty much every game in the series has been a certified banger.

MH: Generations is the pinnacle of classic MH. Rise is the newest classic-style game, but it's very modernized. The modern games aren't bad, they're just different.

Anyone know why the Signal app isn't available on F-Droid? Isn't it supposed to be open source?

My parents' feeds are already getting flooded with videos about how evil and scary Iran is

Deploying it in Ukraine against Russia, or in Gaza against Israel would be brave.

Deploying it against his own civilians is cowardly.

Biebien and Hannah Montana Linux are affronts to god, whereas TempleOS is a tribute.

Are you having a stroke?

My parents are both in the far-right misinformation gutter on Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram, and maybe some other apps I don't know about. I had the idea recently to try and surreptitiously deradicalize their algorithms by logging into their accounts and watching content that'll steer them towards credible information, but I'm not entirely sure what the best approach is. I know that if their feeds suddenly become left-leaning, they're going to notice something is up. They might even think the platform is trying to do a DEI on them, and may try switching to Truth Social.

Does anyone know if there are resources out there explaining how to do something like this? I'm sure I'm not the first person to have this idea. I don't use any of these sites/apps myself, so I don't feel like I know them enough to come up with a solid plan. I don't wanna fuck it up lol

Hi, recent firefox refugee here, and I'm trying to figure out how to get webgl fully working. I already disabled webgl.disabled in about:config, and that seems to have done the trick for most webgl content.

However, the site noclip.website doesn't work. It's basically a 3D model viewer for game maps, and all I get is a black screen. This site works fine in Firefox on this same machine.

I'm using LibreWorld 135.0.1-1 Flatpak on Linux

Thanks!

EDIT:

Here are the log messages in the console. No errors, just a bunch of WebGL warnings:

I’m looking for a new mouse with MMO side buttons, and was wondering what Lemmy thought about it.

My current mouse is a cheapo Red Dragon M901. I love the ergononics, but the durability of the scroll wheel isn’t great. I had to replace the mouse about a year ago because the scroll wheel died (really stiff + wouldn’t click), and now this one is starting to show the same symptoms.

I would like wireless (esp. bluetooth), but I’m a little skeptical about it because my last wireless mouse (EVGA X20) had really inconsistent wakeup. Sometimes it would fall asleep while I was reading something, and I’d have to shake it for 2-5 seconds to wake it back up. That’s extremely annoying :/

The razer naga mice seem like the top tier stuff, but they’re very pricey and my experience with razer hardware reliability in the past has not been great.

Also I’m a linux user, so if the mouse comes with a linux compatible configuration utility, that’s a plus (open source? that’s a plus plus even if the mouse itself is mid :P)

(sorry if this isn't the right community for this)

I noticed that Jetbrains has a discount for users of "competitor products", and was wondering if anyone here has experience with it?

I've been considering buying CLion, so this caught my eye. However, I can't even think of any C++ IDE that isn't free. I exclusively use Sublime Text for my C++ work, but I assume that's not common enough to count?

Say you’re having major surgery, like installing some new ribs, and half way through the surgery, while your chest is wide open, the surgeon just leaves. Like he just decides to go home and leave you there.

Eventually you’ll wake up, right? You’ll wake up with your chest open, probably in a lot of pain.

Would you die? If you manage to stay calm and just lie there patiently, how long could you survive? Besides something like an infection, what would be the things that could kill you in that situation?

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but I always love seeing stuff like this where a community comes together to keep a console alive.

The mastodon and lemmy content I’m seeing feels like 90% of it comes from people who are:

  • ~30 years old or older

  • tech enthusiasts/workers

  • linux users

There’s nothing wrong with that particular demographic or anything, but it doesn’t feel like a win to me if the entire fediverse is just one big monoculture.

I wonder what it is that is keeping more diverse users away? Is picking a server/federation too complicated? Or is it that they don’t see any content that they like?

Thoughts?
