Here is a monetization "cheat sheet" that the CEO posted on LinkedIn which is linked on Chosen's main page if you scroll down: https://i.imgur.com/ztjS4K7.jpeg

In the CEO's LinkedIn profile it says this:

Working closely with teams at NexusMods and beyond to build meaningful, sustainable experiences

If I had to guess the acquisition details are under some sort of NDA right now

All I can say is that for the bad things in my life, I haven't come to terms with them at all. I still consider them shitty and bad, even if I have found silver linings. I am not one of those "I am so glad X disaster happened to me because of Y positive outcome it led to" types, I'd rather not have had X happen at all, though of course I say that as someone who has not had such a big silver lining come of my negatives in life. The mental pain fades with time. (Can't speak to physical, thankfully, let us hope it stays that way, but that also means my advice might not be quite as applicable to you.) I do not and will not feel obligated to come to terms with these things or accept them (I accept them in the sense that they are events that happened in reality and I acknowledge reality as what it is, but not in the sense of being okay with it), it just happens to be that time means they take up less headspace and I do not dwell on them—a pretty similar end result to what I think most people who "come to terms" get. All this is to say: mourn, grieve, don't feel obligated to act happy for others, and the "come to terms, get over it/see something positive" path will not always work for everyone and you can move on with life without taking that path.

Thanks again for your positive, takes-effort contributions to Lemmy! Especially with the nerve damage, I'd probably have just flat-out not posted at all if it were me. I do not know much about nerve damage but I hope things turn out well for you.

Online is a good place to share all the games you liked. It is where I talk about singleplayer experiences with others. In all honesty if they really are that niche you might not find people with similar experiences on Lemmy, just because we're not a massive user base. Or you might!

You also might want to look into video game preservation.

Unfortunately the name makes it seem like it's just for ads and not asking where to post. And I am honestly surprised that you, who I think has the view of "don't make communities with the same purpose on multiple servers, consolidate unless there is a big moderation/content philosophy difference" are cool with [email protected] and [email protected] both existing. Is there a moderation/content philosophy difference I am not aware of? Is it that !newcommunities is only for new ones and !communitypromo allows any? I recall being able to post old communities that I revived, or that had to move instance on !newcommunities without any blowback, but that was awhile ago so perhaps they actually do have different philosophies now.

It’s cool to see a new Zach-like game post-Zachtronics closure.

And coincidentally, the developer Coincidence is a team made up of former Zachtronics members. Including… one Zach Barth.

So I looked into the closing more, it was voluntary and not caused by disaster. Also,

Though Zachtronics is closing down, it's only really doing so in the sense that it won't be making any more games -- hence all of its development staff no longer working at the studio.

The company itself is still going to exist and its games will still be available for purchase. Barth will even be around to address any problems that might arise.

This also makes it a Zach-like and not a Zachtronics release, so I changed my title to reflect that.

A little different than what usually gets posted here, but hey, it has automation. If you think it doesn't belong, Rule 1 is

Please stay on-topic: post about automation and factory builder games. There is some wiggle room; there always is when it comes to game genres, but some things clearly do not fit (Pong, a post asking what car you should buy in real life) and will be removed.

If you think this clearly does not fit and I have horribly misjudged, feel free to report. If I get enough reports/downvotes I'll take it as a sign it really does not belong and remove my post :)

As someone who does not subscribe to WomensStuff, so I only have general advice for you:

  • If you or your instance (still forget the specifics) is opted into Lemmy Federate, then the bot drops a subscription when a real user subscribes. If that real user unsubscribes, I'm not sure the bot picks it back up.
  • People deleting their accounts or getting banned from an instance, perhaps? Not sure if banning from an instance drops all the user's subscriptions there.
  • Fatigue or dislike with the posts there.
  • Maybe just plain old federation issues? I know I have a community where my subscription is still pending, because the instance has massive federation issues.

It happens. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it drops a good fraction and stays down.

I have definitely bonded with people over video games. Playing them together, or playing them apart but doing so physically side by side, talking about them… most social groups I've been, even when they were not formed around gaming at all, went and made a Minecraft server for us to play together. I think it is telling that the fastest way to get me to open a game and start playing is if my other friends are playing. I am younger than your generation, though, so I'm definitely not helping your argument for retro games specifically.

Online play has helped a lot for when I am physically separated from friends. Just hop in a game and voice chat, and play together anyways.

Huh. That's weird, because I have put text bodies on some of my crossposted and got no automatic crossposting notice in the body. I only use Lemmy from the browser. Maybe this is a .world thing.

I hear a lot about frustrating, unskippable tutorials. What games do a good job at teaching you what you need to know?

When I say “inspired by Lemmings” I include the little beings you oversee walking off ledges and dying, as you can see in the trailer.
