I'm considering getting a job in retail, largely because I've never done it before. Mostly I just like something that isn't repetitive and rushed to the point of being soul-crushing. I don't understand people who can do something for decades if it doesn't float their boat and doesn't pay well.

Don't you work in ag? Not the most glamorous thing either but one of the most interesting jobs I ever had was in that sector.

My spouse started a small farm years ago as her job. Unfortunately, there isn't enough money in it for both of us to be at the farm to do farm work so I've gotta to find a paycheck elsewhere while still doing some of the farm work.

Also, I've found over the years that I'm really just not that in to it. I could probably tolerate it if the money situation was okay but since it isn't, my anxiety about money just slowly starts to build until my chest starts hurting all the time and I can't sleep for crap.

Another thing I've learned about myself is that I really, REALLY, need to be able to separate "work" from "not work" or I'll get all weird. And living/working on a farm makes that difficult.
