I have a Galaxy S23 plus

I wanted to enter developer mode in smart view but when I tap 10 times nothing happens and not (enter password) prompt pop up is showing

Is there something I can do? I want to try using my phone as a sexond monitor just to try it out. To show my brother who has a tab S7 or S8 how to do it and connect it to his laptop

There are a lot of improvement to Dex that I would like to see that would make it a true PC replacement but some of them from what I have read are outside Samsung's ability to provide as they are an android/google related matter. One example would be adding palm rejection to lapdocks which is an entirely android dependent matter from what I've read. Are there any others? Is adding spell check to a physical/bluetooth keyboard attachment outside samsung's ability? How about dual monitor support?

I have an S23 and I find it hard to believe that it supports DeX through HDMI but it can't screen mirror?

I want to connect it through a Usb-C - Hdmi cable to an elgato capture card but I can't find the setting to only screen mirror.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody

Please help me set up my S8 Ultra to use as a daily driver, I purchased it for the portability and for the ease of use but I have owned it for 3 months and maybe used it six times

The reason for this is that I opened up the Excel app and found out that it doesn't support CSV files and that pretty much stopped me and my tracks. I use CSV files extensively so that's my first hurdle, I also need an easy way to write small snippets of code as I'm not writing full software development projects but do you need access to something fast and stable and test code.

Before everyone jumps down my throat complaining that I haven't done the research I fully 100% agree with you I just have an incredibly demanding job in the finance industry where if you don't do 14 hour days you are considered lazy and not a team player so while I would love to experiment and play around I don't have the time to go and find small solutions that together give me the desired workflow that I need

So I would be incredibly grateful for your import whether it be advice links to websites links to apps or really anything that you think would help I really want to become part of the dex community as I feel that the concept is definitely going to be the future of personal computing again thank you and advance for your input it means a lot keep well

Hi everyone, I currently have an S7 FE 5G, and there's an S8 Ultra WiFi at a good price in a second-hand store in my neighborhood. I use the tablet mainly for reading sheet music (the S7 FE's screen feels too small for this), using Notion, coding practice when I'm not at home, reading and sending emails – essentially, for productivity. I use the tablet in Dex mode 99% of the time (which is why I'm posting the question here). I don't consume media or play games on the tablet. My intention is to trade in my S7 FE, my Switch OLED, and my laptop (11th gen i5) in exchange for the S8 Ultra with a keyboard. Do you think this is a good trade? I have doubts mainly because it's not 5G and because I won't have VS Code. Thanks

I bought a tab s8+ for studying around november last year and i ve mainly used it for note taking and annotating pdfs, drawing in clip studio and writing articles. i know how to open dex, of course, but i ve only opened it like twice to try it out and never used afterwards. i know a lot of people use it a lot and love it but i didn't have any reason to get used to it. i kind of want to see what the hype is about; what do you use dex for?

my daily drivers are a samsung s21fe as my phone, this tablet and from time to time a windows laptop that is quite bad and outdated, mostly for when i want to use notion because i feel like it simply works better and i like typing on a laptop more than the s8+ case so i simply don't know where in this i would use dex

This is a bit of an unofficial *forum* (or at least, that's what I want it to be) but I was hoping this could be an expansive post with lots of suggestions. I'm making this post mainly because there are some things that I would like Samsung (or other apps that function within DeX) to implement to improve the overall desktop-like experience in DeX. I'll be updating my suggestions with new ones in the comments or on the main post if someone else hasn't already brought it up already.

These are some of things that I would like to see or would want fixed:

  • In Quick Settings (bottem-right where the battery and wifi status were) you'd have to click and hold in order to open specific settings, I'd suggest doing what Windows has done and make it so that I can either click the window around the setting or click the text underneath instead of click and hold in order to open the specific setting.
  • There's a bit of an error with Samsung Internet where I'm unable to sign in to my school account via 2FA (Duo if anyone's curious) it would displayed as an error or something along those lines making me utilize other browsers to get things done (mainly Edge, they've really improve with their funcitionality overall.
  • More extensions within Samsung Internet (I'm pretty sure this is coming soon but in case it's not)
  • Auto window snapping when there's 2 or more windows snaped to the sides or corners of the desktop.
  • Matching framerates when using an external display (along with settings to control the display in terms of frame rate and resolution.
  • Improved scrolling gestures [When scrolling you don't have full control when scrolling ie. when on a website/pages, you make a swiping gesture to scroll through a page quickly (go on a search engine, search up something random and brush two fingers vertically across your trackpad, if you have one) if you want to stop scroll, usually you'd put 2 fingers down on the trackpad and it would stop, if you want to stop scrolling on DeX, you'd have to scroll upwards to counter it].
  • Chrome Extensions on Mobile????????? (Probably not something that could happen in the future but it's a possiblity).
  • Trackpad Drift (this mainly applies to the Keyboard & Mouse Book case) - whenever I move my finger on the trackpad (stopping with my finger still on the trackpad), the pointer sort of glides or drifts for a bit before coming to a complete stop.

This is about as much as I can remember, I'll add more in the comments or edit the post. If you have other suggestions that could potentially improved DeX, by all means drop it down. Who knows, maybe there's already a solution or alternative to it (or maybe the suggestion already exists). NOTE that this is not an official forum or post, this is mainly just a post to list out suggestions that could improve DeX.

I got a new cable (Anker Powerline II USB-C to USB-C 3.1 [Gen 2]) and is capable of charging and outputting Display signals. It works fine.

However, it sometimes doesnt charge. I tried it with my tab S8, and it works well being able to charge and display dex.

S23 Ultra however, doesn't charge sometimes. I plug, unplug, reverse cable, but it just doesn't work.

I tried other cables and they work fine except this one with the S23 Ultra specifically.

Any ideas why?

My phone was being used for google map directions on a long drive since only a USB-C was available for android auto. Meanwhile I was in the back getting some e-mails answered via dex wireless nexdock and the kiddo was using the cell phone by itself to watch some youtube videos. My old S20 was able to do all of this simultaneously without stuttering or heating up. AMAZING. 3 people using the same phone all at the same time.

Apologies if this exists but I have searched and browsed to no avail.

I have the Dex station (model: EE-MG950) and have no power to phone when docked and therefore no image.

I can't seem to find a guide on how to diagnose and/or fix any issues?

I have continuity on the earth's from the power port to the dock port and am sort of stuck as to where to go from here.

Any suggestions please would be greatly appreciated.

I have been using DELL 26 inch screen for DEX via USB-c with my S22 ultra phone for 2 years. I mainly use it for work (zoom mert, email, spreadsheet, etc). I found out there are many widescreen options in the market i feel interested since i can multi tasking more as with my PC office i always have 4 screens with 4-6 windows all the time, mostly communication programs.

Maybe its only me who fear of missing out something while working !!

Pls recomment which one is good, i don't need the biggest or the most top spec as i don't plan to use it for gaming and it's quite too expensive.

  1. Samsung 34 inch
  2. Samsung 49 inch (the older generation)
  3. Other brands, dell, acer?

Just got a 7-in-1-or-whatever hub with a USB-C connection. I can connect that end to the phone and then use an HDMI cable from the hub to the monitor, but that leaves the phone without external power. I've tried the same setup and a wireless charger, but the phone gets too hot.

I know I could get an official Dex Dock, but there's probably an easy way with what I already have.

If I have the phone, hub, monitor, and a bunch of cables and AC adapters, how can I connect the phone to a monitor while still cable-charging the phone?
