Well, fuck you, Cooler Master.

As soon as I turned my VPN off I was able to successfully send my RMA request.

Down 33%, the total was the first decline since GDPR went into enforcement, largely due to 2023’s record-setting fine versus Meta.

I came across this neat interactive spectrum on privacy. A decent insight into the depths you can go to achieve your privacy goals with examples.

Palms were offline devices that only synced with your computer when put on a docking station.

You could read and reply to emails offline, book or cancel meetings, and sync with your computer later. The latest versions allowed you to snap pictures and listen to your music.

No servers running constantly. No data spilled everywhere. Days worth of battery on a single charge.

The future stole our cables, and it took our attention span and our privacy with it.

A good way to up your privacy on your phone. This app has been great for pushing me to find FLOSS alternatives.

Interesting thread about Posteo (discuss.privacyguides.net)

Found this the other day while looking alternatives to Proton.

Posteo seems like a good alternative. The linked thread shows some concerns about their privacy, but what is surprising is that they weren't recommended by PrivacyGuides because

The fact of the matter is that we have 4 excellent mailbox providers who can meet all of the requirements we’re looking for.

Well, I just had a look, they removed one as there are only three, and now as people want to avoid Proton, that leaves Tuta and Mailbox.org as alternatives: https://www.privacyguides.org/en/email/

So maybe they should add Posteo back? Anyway, that doesn't matter that much, I just wanted to share as people might be looking for alternative for Proton

Just looking to seed the place a little a bit with some side bar discussion, maybe get into more feeds to spread the word.

When I joined fedi, privacy on ml seemed like decently robust community but I would posit that endless modding of anti China and Russia sentiment really chocked the air out of it.

Similar thing is happening on .world too

This affects Signal too

An issue with Cloudflare allows an attacker to find which Cloudflare data center a messaging app used to cache an image, meaning an attacker can obtain the approximate location of Signal, Discord, Twitter/X, and likely other chat app users. In some cases an attacker only needs to send an image across the app, with the target not clicking it, to obtain their location.

Signal, an open-source encrypted messaging service, is widely used by journalists and activists for its privacy features. Internally, the app utilizes two CDNs for serving content: cdn.signal.org (powered by CloudFront) for profile avatars and cdn2.signal.org (powered by Cloudflare) for message attachments.
