The Logitech G512, G502, and G Powerplay all show that saving to device is supported. However, within the app, the message "Saving Not Supported" is shown. Below is are screenshots of the G502 in OpenRGB and of G502 showing a checkmark for "Save" on the website's supported device list, respectively

can someone who runs windows 11 tell us if the new rgb control feature lets you stop windows from controlling a lamparray device. I'm asking for the sake of OpenRGB

Quick color from the taskbar (Win11) works on everything but my GPU (GeForce RTX 3070). I can change that color from it's panel in the full OpenRGB window. It will also change colors or on/off with the scheduler plugin. Any ideas on what I should try to get it to work? It isn't a huge issue, tbh, but it would be nice to fix.

Hi, i got openRGB on my windows10 PC (Mainboard: Msi PRO B660-A DDR4 with two JRAINBOW connectors). I connected my case(BeQuiet! pure base 500dx) to Jrainbow1 and three fans(BeQuiet! light wings 140mm hight speed) to Jrainbow2. the problem is, that they aren't glowing. Why?

&

I installed three plugins, how do i use them?

Thanks for help!

I don't do auto-login on my Windows box, but I wanted a way to load an OpenRGB profile as soon as possible after boot. (So I don't have to look at the eyesore of a rainbow on my RAM as I log in, but that's beside the point.) I couldn't find a write-up anywhere, so here goes:

  1. Get OpenRGB installed and working as you would normally on Windows. This includes setting up your devices, saving a profile, and setting it to run automatically after login.

  2. Download nssm and put it somewhere easily accessible from your terminal of choice. I suggest your %USERPROFILE% dir (C:\Users\username). Or just install it via chocolatey.

  3. Open your terminal as administrator (Win key, type "cmd", then click "Run as administrator"), then:

    cd %USERPROFILE%
    nssm install

  4. In the Application tab that pops up, set the following:

    • Path: C:\Program Files\OpenRGB\OpenRGB.exe
    • Startup directory: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\OpenRGB
    • Arguments: --noautoconnect --server --profile yourprofile

Substitute the path, username, and yourprofile according to your local configuration, of course.

  1. Switch to the Log on tab and set

    • Log on as: This account
    • This account: username
    • Password: yourpassword
  2. Set the Service name to OpenRGB

  3. Click Install service, then reboot.

That's it! Your profile should be set before you log in. And after you log in, the OpenRGB instance you originally configured should connect automatically to the service that's now running.

There's only one gotcha: I haven't yet found a way to have OpenRGB run plugins in server mode, so things such as Hardware Sync will only start after log in.

Using OpenRGB for quite a while now I wonder if there is any Opensource RGB controller supported by OpenRGB? Found out about Adalight, but it seems very very dated.

What i am trying to archive is ambilight style ambient illumination. Tried WLED via E1.31. It works quite well but seems to have some latency occasionally. So its not quite optimal. Is there any Opensource-Hardware option supported by OpenRGB?

57

Context: ASRock motherboard with three ARGB headers as well as an on-MB light bar. I am wishing to use three different effects with one pair of the ARGB headers, the other ARGB header, and with the motherboard (specifically using them to Hardware Sync different components).

However, when I create a Visual Map containing two of the headers, the rest of the headers become unavailable for any new Visual Map.

Is there any way to have more than one Visual Map with each one containing different headers from the same piece of hardware?

Hey there,

I got a few issues with my Keyboard light. I tried to create simple animations on the board by sending frequently color updates.

Update frequency:
In order to make a flowing animation I need to send a lot of light updates to the Keyboard. I want to have around 20 updates per second, but the keyboard does not handle the requests if I get above 5 Updates per second. And even with 5 updates per second I sometimes get phases without changes. The OpenRGB window displays the color updates right, even if the keyboard does not. What is even more interesting, I can get up to 1400 Updates per second without any problems on my case, mouse, mainboard, fan and GPU (I guess 1400 Updates is the limit of the SDK cause all are caped there). Can I get above 5 updates per second or is this the physical limit of the keyboard?

Color glitches:
Sometimes I get wrong colors on single keys of the board (seems to be mostly red and turquoise). The App show the right colors. The glitches are getting more if I send more updates to the keyboard. With 5 updates per second I have around 10% wrong colors. If I have high update frequencies I sometimes additionally have the problem of full space outs. I get a whole time frame with a fully blue keyboard. This also increases if I increase the update frequency. Is there a way to prevent this glitches?

Animations and Events:
I tried a bit with the animations of HyperX NGENUITY which does have animations and event based coloring. For example the standard moving rainbow or the color change event if you press a key. How do they get the animations on the keyboard? Is it possible to apply full animations on the Keyboard? Is it maybe even possible with OpenRGB? Can I handle Key press events on the keyboard as well?

System information:

Thanks for help, SpaceBroetchen

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my machine to an ASUS B650E-F (Running Win10). I have some Trident Z RGB installed to it, as well as one 12V RGB strip and one 5V ARGB connected to the headers on the board. After making the mistake of installing Armory Crate and realizing that it just sets every device to one color, I installed OpenRGB in hopes of having a little bit more granularity.

It gets a little fuzzy here, but at some point with both programs installed, my board stopped getting detected by any RGB software altogether, the lights on the board and the ARG went black, and the 12V RGB is just stuck on green. The RAM is still detected and addressable, however.

I've tried every remedial action I can think of (BIOS reflashes, CMOS battery removal+clears, Windows reinstalls, updating any and all drivers, messing around with disabiling/ enabling Aura in BIOS and changing ErP settings, and many, many reinstalls of Aura Sync/Armory Crate/openRGB) and I've come up empty.

My one lead is the log from openRGB below:

[Trace:] [ResourceManager] Calling detection progress callbacks. [Debug:] [ENE (ASUS Aura) SMBus Controller] Bus 03 is a motherboard and the subvendor matches the one for ASUS, looking for a device at 0x40 [Debug:] [ENE SMBus] looking for devices at 0x40... I'm very code-illiterate, so this is where I turn to help. I assume this means that something is borked with my boards firmware? Do I have any options outside of RMA? By board is well within warranty, but I'd really prefer not to.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

lsusb: 1e71:2012 NZXT NZXT RGB Controller

openrgb detected this with sudo, but not as user.

It works after adding below rule to udev (cloned from another entry).

Hello, I'm trying to make OpenRGV work on my ASUS TUF F15 and tried some suggestions from this [Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenRGB/comments/y5uqwb/cant_get_openrgb_to_work_on_my_laptop/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 but it didn't work. I have installed OpenRGV with ppa:thopiekar/openrgb repository.

I installed MSI Center and Mystic with it and was using it for a bit. I then openen OpenRGB Alongside to try that, and everytihing was fine. Untill i uninstalled MSI Center.

The LED's on my fan went off and the Windows USB disconnect/connect sound began playing constantly... on loop. (Its still happening) I then saw that in OpenRGB my motherboard was no longer detected. (it is in the supported devices list. MS_7C56)

So i went and installed MSI Center and Mystic again to try to fix it. But it did not. Uninstalling it again didnt work, and mystic wont even control the LEDs now.

I then tried to update the BIOS to the latest, I tried removing the cmos battery for 5 minutes and I tried to power cycle the system with no success.

When i was in the BIOS it was also extremely laggy. my mouse was stuttering and the menu's were stuttering. Sometimes the BIOS would just crash/lock up too. And everytime I exit the bios it freezes, but it does save the changes. This is the first time I am experiencing these issues in the BIOS.

Similair to the BIOS lag. In TF2 the game has microfreezes at the same rate as the USB connect sound plays, and Baldurs Gate 3 only uses single digit % of my gpu now. Both of these things were not happening before.

In Device manager there is no yellow exclamaition mark to signal there is a problem with a usb device.

I can see the USB device icon in my system tray appearing constantly, and in my Windows devices menu i see "MYSTIC LIGHTS" apearing every few seconds.

I read someone contacted MSI about their Mystic not actually being gone after uninstalling and MSI aparently gave a tool to completely remove it.

I have already contacted Msi with a form on their website.

Was this caused by having OpenRGB and Mystic open at the same time?

Any ideas/suggestions? Other than just reinstalling windows because i just did that recently.

Hello, I just tried to use the program but no devices appeared and after checking the internal code of the Motherboard I noticed that only the 7D91 is supported on OpenRGB, not the 7D96 which is the one I have.

I'd like to know if it will be supported in the near future. Thanks for your answers.

I have a ASUS TUF 3060 O12G GAMING. It is there, but changing the RGB settings does nothing. Also, is there anyway to get a corsair RGB fan hub working? I have a iCUE COMMANDER CORE XT. I'm using Linux so i can't use the official software.

I'm on Archlinux and Im using the openrgb-git aur package
Does anyone here know how to fix this?

I did an interview with Linux YouTuber and podcaster Brodie Robertson on his podcast Tech Over Tea! We talked about the origins of OpenRGB, the challenges we face with reverse engineering, and discuss the OpenPleb initiative. We also talked about some other miscellaneous Linux things.

#OpenRGB 0.9 has been released! Check it out at https://openrgb.org/! The full release notes are available on GitLab here:

After my previous video about the OpenPleb initiative, I wanted to actually demonstrate the process of reverse engineering and show some of the hurdles and pitfalls of trying to understand a protocol without any documentation. This is the second part where I complete the reverse engineering of the effect packet and implement the different modes in my OpenRGB controller.

71

This is not news, just wanted to pin the most recent release here on Lemmy. It released on November 28, 2022. The next release, 0.9, is still being worked on but as always you can try the latest pipeline build at https://openrgb.org/#pl for the latest supported devices and features.

72
73

It looks like the OpenPleb initiative, a joint effort from Level1Techs and Gamers Nexus to get manufacturers to be more open with their protocol and interface documentation, is working! Case vendor HYTE seems interested and said they're willing to send me some sample devices along with protocol documentation!

This is the first manufacturer I've seen comment on the OpenPleb initiative publicly.

74

I wanted to demonstrate the reverse engineering process we use to figure out how to talk to devices for OpenRGB so I made a video where I start reverse engineering the RGB on the new ASUS ROG Ally. I wanted viewers to get a feel for how confusing and time-consuming this can be, especially with the new OpenPleb initiative that is trying to get manufacturers to open up and provide protocol documentation that would render reverse engineering unnecessary.
