Avelon App

The screen moves off the screen on left and right. Trying to figure out what is going on. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Moved all iOs settings to lowest font size. Will keep exploring…😳

I’m not sure why, but I can’t connect to discuss.online as of yesterday. All I get is a “Failed to connect” error. No other detail.

I did create an account on lemm.ee and that works.

Anything else to try? I did uninstall and reinstall but that didn’t change the login failure.

Thoughts?

The touch top (by WiFi icon, battery, etc) automatically scrolls to the top is the most awful iOS feature. It should have been behind a setting in iOS, but here we are. Is it possible to move it behind a setting in the app?

I have a quick wee feature request. I’ve got the mark read in scroll AND hide on read features enabled. As it stands I get about 20 posts or so from last I checked Avelon, followed by months old content.

It would be great if, at least on my Home feed, I could have the feed end at posts older than a week?

I like this app a lot, I can tell there's been a ton of love and hard work put into it.

The strategy for monetization leaves a bit of a sour taste though.

For one, nobody wants another subscription - and $30 lifetime for a brand new app is a huge asking price compared to, say, Apollo, which was $5 or so (with a subscription tier for things that actually made sense to buy due to recurring cost).

But this app is paywalling basic stuff like a comment jump button (everyone else has this for free), content filtering, video scrubbing, and various other things that have no recurring cost to the developer.

My recommendation, take it or leave it, if you want my money make it a reasonable one time purchase for things that don't cost you money (under $10 imo, $5 would've been an easy sell).

If you want to justify a subscription model you are gonna need to build features that justify it - push notifications, stuff like that.

I’d like to request the feature to share links in contextual menu. Currently we can only open them in browser or copy link.

It’s a bit confusing to me that clicking on „Posts” button in the bottom menu takes me to the communities list. I believe more standard behavior is to just refresh current feed - can we have it like that please?

I've been trying to log in to use Avelon for a few days now, on both the app store and TestFlight builds, and both give the pictured error.

Guest accounts work fine, and this error happens with four different accounts on four different Lemmy instances. I can log into all of these accounts in other apps (currently posting this from Voyager).

(By the way there is definitely a password in there when I press the button, I think my phone just hid it for the screenshot)

I was using the link button to share a link but I like being able to select the word I want to link, click the link button and paste, and have the word I selected in brackets and linked. Right now when I select the word and add the link, it pastes the link after the selected word with blank brackets. So I ended up just manually typing out the bracket and parentheses format, but then the font got quite weird. 😬

Going forward there will be no more pro options available when testing? I purchased from the App Store but that’s definitely not making it so the options are available in the TestFlight. Right now I’d pretty much have to stop testing to get the full app (which I have done now).

Currently, there’s no option to copy a comment to your clipboard. It would be very nice to get this as I currently would have to take a screenshot then use optical character recognition to extract the text.

Additionally, Apollo had a really cool option to export an image with a user comment. It was really good feature because it was granular in that you could decide to anonymize the usernames in the screenshot, format the screenshot to only include what you intended, pretty much anything you can think of about screenshot formatting, etc. That feature was really cool and I miss it dearly.

IMO, if you’re going to be THE ubiquitous Lemmy app, you need to provide everything good that Apollo had.

I’d love a push notification option, even if only for the pro membership.

If you try to use iCloud Keychain, the login form doesn’t get filled in.

A while back I had done this study for upvote/downvote colors in each apps. Avelon seems to be in the right spot, but an option to customize the colors would be nice maybe…

I know this has been requested before but I don’t see another way to do this. It would be nice to press the Pists button and be taken to the top. Is there another way to accomplish this without tapping the top?

Btw I bought Avelon pro because this has beat out all the other apps. Thanks to the devs for all the amazing work.

Am I mistaken that marking read while scrolling and hiding read does not work for groups? I have been looking forward to a groups type feature for a long time a++

There’s a bug when you edit your comment, to correct a spelling mistake for example.

It either works and ‘saves’ - it doesn’t save. Or it does not work at all.

Maybe I’m not looking in the right place but I can’t find a way to delete my own posts, is it possible yet?
