With Trump’s help, Republicans across the country are sowing doubt about next year’s congressional elections—and gearing up for 2028.

Special elections in Florida and Wisconsin have suggested that voters are already fed up with the Trump administration and point to the possibility that the 2026 midterms could be a blue wave. As Trump’s failures continue to mount, Republicans have good reason to fear a backlash.

Perhaps this explains why Trump is intent on bolstering the election denial movement, which has lately notched a number of key victories. On March 25, the president signed Executive Order #14248, “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections,” which neither preserves nor protects our elections but rather undermines them.

It is a clarion call to Republicans throughout the nation, who are being encouraged to question the legitimacy of any election loss and ultimately establish a permanent electoral advantage by challenging and removing eligible voters from the rolls. Now, with Trump’s executive order, they have insurance: a way of tipping elections in their favor by choosing the voters rather than having the voters choose them.

Donald Trump has continually insisted that deals over his tariffs are coming.

Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that the U.S. doesn’t “have to sign” any trade deals, inadvertently admitting that his administration hasn’t made any progress during the 90-day pause on his disastrous tariffs.

During a tense meeting to discuss tariffs with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, the president attempted to move the goal posts on actually completing any agreements with foreign countries.

“Everyone says, ‘When, when, when, are you going to sign deals?’ We don’t have to sign deals!” Trump said.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told Donald Trump on Tuesday that his country will never be for sale, shutting down the U.S. president’s repeated calls to make Canada the 51st state.

“There are some places that are never for sale,” Carney said in the Oval Office.

Canada is “not for sale” and “won’t be for sale ever,” the prime minister said.

Trump replied: “Never say never.”

President Trump said he would talk to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney about making Canada the 51st state. But the president said he didn't expect it to get to the point of using military force — though he wouldn't commit to the same for Greenland.

"Something could happen with Greenland, I'll be honest," Trump said in an interview with NBC News' "Meet the Press" that aired on Sunday.  He said that "we need that for national and international security," but he added "I don't see it with Canada. I just don't see it."

Roughly a week after Donald Trump started his second term as president, the US military issued an order to three freight airlines operating out of Dover air force base in Delaware and a US base in Qatar: stop 11 flights loaded with artillery shells and other weaponry that were bound for Ukraine.

In a matter of hours, frantic questions reached Washington from Ukrainians in Kyiv and from officials in Poland, where the shipments were coordinated. Who had ordered the US Transportation Command, known as TransCom, to halt the flights? Was it a permanent pause on all aid? Or just some?

In other words he's seeking a 3rd term, constitution pending or not.

Summary:

An immigration raid in western New York on Friday targeted a group of immigrants involved in a landmark statewide effort by farm workers to unionize.

On Friday morning at around 9:30 a.m., federal agents in unmarked cars and bearing no agency insignia pulled over a bus in Albion, New York, about 35 miles west of Rochester, and took 14 people of Lynn-Ette & Sons Farms into custody. All of the detainees, who hailed from Mexico and Guatemala, were year-round employees of Lynn-Ette & Sons Farms, a family-owned business in nearby Kent, New York, which has been locked in a multiyear battle to prevent workers from unionizing.

The company is one of five agricultural businesses that, together with a state growers’ association, have tried for years to overturn or chip away at New York’s 2019 farm labor law. The law enshrined protections for the right of farmworkers — whether seasonal or year-round — to seek union representation.

“This was strange because they actually had a list of most of the workers on the bus.”

Several of the workers taken into custody on Friday have been active in efforts to unionize year-round employees, including at least one who has spoken publicly in favor of joining the United Farm Workers of America, according to Elizabeth Strater, director of strategic campaigns for UFW, the storied labor union.

“We are concerned at the appearance of targeting publicly pro-union worker leaders,” said Strater.

Most of the workers detained on Friday hail from Mexico or Guatemala.

The raid did not appear to be a broad sweep but rather a targeted enforcement aimed at specific people, according to sources who have been in contact with the families and spoke to The Intercept on condition of anonymity to candidly discuss a sensitive legal situation.

“At first we thought they were enforcing a deportation order, that they had one person that they’re looking for and then everyone else got dragged in — that’s kind of standard,” said one of the people with knowledge of the raid. “But this was strange because they actually had a list of most of the workers on the bus.” “A Different Level of Fear”

In video of the raid posted to social media, the agents could be seen dressed in civilian clothes and wearing tactical vests with patches that said “Police,” as is common in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids.

The agents did not identify themselves, said a source close to the families of the detained workers, but a spokesperson for ICE later confirmed that its agents had made the arrests.

According to the spokesperson, all 14 were in the country with authorization, and three of the individuals had pending removal orders.

Following an inquiry from The Intercept, Lynn-Ette — which grows green beans, cabbage, squash, and other vegetables and foodstuffs — issued a statement on Monday morning expressing concern for their employees.

“We are deeply troubled by the manner in which this enforcement action was carried out and the impact it has had on our team and their families. Lynn-Ette & Sons had no prior knowledge of the raid and had no contact with ICE beforehand,” the company wrote in the statement, which appeared as a sponsored post on a local news site. “We call on elected officials and community leaders to ensure that all enforcement actions are conducted with transparency, due process, and human dignity.”

As of Monday evening, more than 72 hours after the raid, the location of most of the detainees was not yet clear. ICE detention records show that at least one man is being held at the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York, and two women are being held at Niagara County Jail in Lockport, New York.

Sources close to the families said that at least two of the other men are also being held at Batavia but have not yet been logged in the system and have not spoken with lawyers. The remaining nine detainees are unaccounted for.

An ICE spokesperson did not respond to specific questions about the location of the detainees or the reason for the raid.

“ICE does not conduct raids as part of its routine daily immigration law enforcement efforts,” the spokesperson wrote. “Instead, ICE’s enforcement resources are based on intelligence-driven leads and ICE officers do not target persons indiscriminately.”

For its part, Lynn-Ette forcefully rejected any notion that the company had any role in the raid.

“We strongly reject the United Farm Workers’ (UFW) irresponsible and self-serving public claims suggesting that these workers were targeted in retaliation for union activity,” the company said in its statement. “These claims are categorically false.”

The detained workers are not part of a bargaining unit themselves — a fact highlighted prominently in the Lynn-Ette statement. The company made no mention that the detained workers were part of a group actively seeking representation with the UFW.

Veteran 60 Minutes anchor Scott Pelley reported on Donald Trump’s efforts to strong-arm some of the country’s top law firms into doing his bidding on Sunday night’s episode of the embattled CBS newsmagazine.

Pelley’s segment pulled no punches in describing Trump’s efforts and reminding viewers that Trump is the “first felon” ever to sit in the Oval Office.

Summary

Tesla’s sales in Europe collapsed in April, plunging over 50% in several countries despite an overall 23.9% rise in EU EV sales.

Sweden saw an 81% drop, the Netherlands 73.8%, and France 59%.

The refreshed Model Y failed to revive interest as buyers turned to alternatives, citing CEO Elon Musk’s controversies or superior competitors.

Tesla’s Q1 EU market share fell from 2.4% to 1.3%. Including the UK and EFTA, sales dropped 37.3%. Globally, 2024 was Tesla’s worst delivery year in two years, raising doubts about a near-term recovery.

The West was moving to the right — and then Donald Trump got elected again

Something is happening among America's allies, and it's a tremendous relief. For some years now, we've seen the MAGA-infused global right gaining a foothold amongst western democracies, largely driven by the same demagogic, nationalist, pseudo-populism that has fueled Donald Trump's dominance on the American right.

Some countries like Hungary have served as a sort of experiment for the kind of post-democratic autocracies dreamt of by the modern right wing in which government co-opts, intimidates and de-legitimizes the political opposition to create an authoritarianism that dominates the culture and the politics without a lot of overt violence.

But the rise of the far right among the Western allies seems to be stalling out.

The Trump adviser is trying to redefine the Constitution in order to carry out his extreme immigration agenda.

The Trump administration continues to subvert the constitutional right to due process to justify its illegal, extrajudicial deportations.

“The right of ‘due process’ is to protect citizens from their government, not to protect foreign trespassers from removal,” wrote deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller on Monday morning. “Due process guarantees the rights of a criminal defendant facing prosecution, not an illegal alien facing deportation.”

This is not how the law works. The clause has no specification for citizenship. Miller’s claim has been widely rebuked.

Elon Musk rejected accusations of Nazi sympathies in a Fox News interview, calling it “outrageous” and blaming media propaganda.

Critics point to his straight-arm salute at Trump’s rally, endorsement of a German far-right party, and reinstating white supremacist accounts on X.

His cuts to federal agencies under DOGE have sparked protests and vandalism, including nicknaming Teslas “swasticars.”

Musk claims he's targeted for character assassination and receives daily death threats. He and Lara Trump compared the attacks to those against Donald Trump, accusing mainstream media of spreading lies.

When Elon Musk purchased Twitter, called it X and launched an AI called Grok – many felt this particular AI was going to be leaning towards the MAGA right that Elon has been pandering towards since he made X a very horrible place to be on the internet. Grok is the AI tool on X, and despite Elon Musk’s promise that Grok would be “maximally truth-seeking,” the chatbot has drawn criticism for showing signs of political bias and questionable content moderation. Some early users claimed Grok avoided criticism of Musk and Donald Trump, raising concerns about censorship, though xAI later said this was a temporary issue. Grok was clocked for inconsistencies in its responses, especially on topics like immigration and diversity, where Grok’s answers sometimes contradicted Musk’s public stance. These incidents have fueled debate over whether the AI is truly neutral or subtly shaped by its creator’s views – and now Grok itself has seemingly confirmed it was pushed to appeal to the right by its creator – Elon Musk and xAI.
